Tickets for Rockingham Cart
Anyone heard anything about when tickets for the Rockingham Cart race go on sale? Seems to be very late, think it was about November they went on sale before last year's race.
Very usefully the official Rockingham website is being redeveloped and currently features a flag waving graphic which was obviously designed to try to give any site visitors an epileptic fit |

recieved my Supporters club newsletter today. Ticket details will be announced with a few eeks (3 or 4 i think it said). The website is being redeveloped to increase the amount of stuff on it and make it easier to use. it will be back soon.

A few eeks?
Judging from what the tickets cost last year, a number of loud screams is more like it! September is the only month I'm not doing anything of the racing persuasion. I shall hold my fire until I see the whites of their cash grab demands, er, ticket prices. |

Sorry, bad typing. It should have said a few weeks. They haven't decided on ticket prices yet but after last year they said the price of this years were "under review" as they felt they may have priced themselves out of the market a bit. They are meant to be sending out info as soon as they have decided so I will post it as and when it arrives.

Good, I appreciate that.
And "they felt they may have priced themselves out of the market a bit" ... indeed? And I expect any day that they will characterize the London Blitz as "a bit over the top by Mr. Hitler." I'd love to go if the price is right. |

Me too Liz! It stopped me going last year because of the price. I would like to go and see what all the fuss is about

I've given Rockingham a call and they said they'd call me when they've confirmed the ticket prices, so just in case nobody else here hears about prices before I do, i'll post on here info on ticket prices. And then we can arrange who's going.

I can say now, that I am going. Not sure I want to be on the members lawn like last year as there isn't anywhere to sit.

I'll make a decision when I hear the prices. I do believe it doesn't clash with a Toca weekend which is a bonus!

I hope they aren't as expensive as last year. I was lucky to get cheap tickets through Ford, and very lucky to end up in the pit lane and the Rockingham Grandstand, but wouldn't have gone if it was full price only.

I hope it doesn't rain. Rain in September, when has that happened in Britain?

I do belive we have had a dry couple of days but if you believe the weather forecast - that will come to an end on the weekend. Bring your waterfproofs, a good book and a couple of those high powered hairdryers on trucks from America Who thought of putting an oval "can only race in the dry" track in England? |

The other way in for cheap is to marshal an event in the US (we did Houston last year), get to meet the CART officials (real easy, just walk up to them in the Paddock), and then ask to volunteer this year for Rockingham. We've just received our invites!! Going to be signing-on through CART!!! See you all there hopefully.

If I get credentials for the two Canadian races, perhaps I can get them for Rockingham. Then I can get in free. The only difficulty then would be the c r a p shoot of spending 4 days in Britain and possibly seeing no racing. When is the Rockingham race exactly?

Liz, The atmosphere at the circuitand in the press room last year was great, it was actually good to have time to sit and talk to lots of people you see in passing most weekends but never have time to talk to properly. Also there was LOTS of time for getting really good interviews and paddock pictures.
If you come over I'm sure you'll have a great time. I know that I enjoy the different atmosphere that there is in the paddock of American race meetings. If the weather co-operates you can come and see the f3 at Thruxton on the Sunday, britains fastest road circuit. If you need contact details for Thruxton, please let me know. |

I'm not sure. I think they will.
As I am bringing a friend (I hope), I will be in a grandstand. |
