McRae angling for Bathurst drive

From autosport.com

Ford world rally star Colin McRae wants to take part in this year's Bathurst 1,000, according to a story in Motorsport News.

McRae said; "Ford Australia is looking into the deal – but I don't know who I'd share the car with yet. Doing the race won't be a problem, it doesn't clash with any rallies, but finding the time to get down there and do a couple of tests could prove a bit more difficult."

Could be interesting if the weather is wet like last year!!

Somehow I think Colin's Championship position could have some bearing on Ford allowing this to happen as the race is on Oct 13 before the WRC season ends

At this stage of the season, there aren't too many official Ford seats left. You probably have one or two at Briggs, but there aint many quality seats around.

Problem is, we've found, with international drivers is that they have to have a few test sessions in the cars to dial themselves in... because the getting around the mountain is anything but easy.

Anyways, when is Martin Brundle, or Paul Newman coming down to do the race?
