Anyone up for crossing the channel for the 2000 Le Mans ? This year's event was amazing viewing on TV - I really wished i'd actually got off my arse and visited it in person!
How many would be interested in making the trip this year ? I think we should go this year - before they change the rules again and it all goes bad again |

I`m up for the trip, a couple of friends went this year and had a fantastic time.
Craig how are you thinking of getting thereand do you want to book rooms or take a tent ??. My friends said to take plenty of beer money, its cheap but you have no restrictions on time like here. |

Me too. If they promise to have the flying Silver Arrows again! I had never seen the race before this year but it looks like a blast! I think I may go Page & Moy, somebody told me that they had lots of beer on their buses.

I am not clear about this EU stuff, y'all; when I get to France, am I in the EU and then no more borders/passport stamps/etc.?
The Page & Moy Le Mans trip is 195 for 4 days. That is practically free. Sarah do you want to share my room? they charge you extra 54 for a single room so you might as well have somebody else in it for that price. |

When the time gets closer we will firm it up then. I figure you really only need a place to freshen up and keep your stuff on a weekend like this, so the more the merrier; if there are other gals out there who want to get in on this offer, let me know.

I'm definitely interested, holidays and money permitting! Don't mind sharing to keep the costs down.

LizH and Sarah, do y'all drive? I'd pay your share of the hotel if you'd do the driving! But whatever; looks as if you get about 10 off per night for each person up to 4. That can add up over 3 or 4 days.
What are the pit section seats like? I think I will get one there so I can watch them work. That is the part I like best. [This message has been edited by Liz (edited 22 July 1999).] |

Well, let's email them and tell them to start their engines! We are ready to rumble!
S&L do you have a preference re hotel and how long do you want to stay - I thought 3 days - that is around 169 each (its 159 if we can get one more to join us) and includes circuit parking and channel crossing and breakdown insurance as well as the hotel, but you get your own race tickets. And whoever drives I will pay her share. Is that fair? P.S. Guys, we have OUR trip all arranged - YOU are falling behind. NB LizH tried to email you and got something about a "permanent fatal error." Sounds creepy. [This message has been edited by Liz (edited 23 July 1999).] |

Well, you know us blokes - we'll just turn up on the day, hit the bar, and hope it all works out
However, a trip to Le Mans is hardly a trip down the M25 to Brands, is it ?! So, who's up for it ? I think Invader seemed interested when I mentioned it to him at Snett. Even Danielsun seemed excited about it when I spoke to him this afternoon - and he's in Australia! |

Craig, or somebody in Pommyland, please give me a rough idea of the cost of going to France for the race. I can do the accommodation in the UK alright I think, and the airfares, but I need to know how much more I'd need to save for the trip...

Danielsun I bet you could ride with us - still one seat open; just bring gas (petrol?) money and buy a pizza or two - get one of the boyos to give you space in a tent in the infield and you're home free.

It's okay, Liz: I'm young and Australia is basically a little America, so I'm well-versed in that sort of language. Although I particularly like the South Park vocabulary...
I just need to save up a few grand - not an easy thing, unless I sell my car - I'm up for five hundred on it this week alone, what with RACQ and insurance due... We'll see how we go. I'll let you know... |

Convicts?
Danielsun, I have an Aussie boyfriend and he's not a bit American - much more of a Brit, but he sounds just like the guys in "The Lighthorsemen" (he's from Adelaide). [This message has been edited by Liz (edited 04 August 1999).] |

For everyone who wants to travel to Le Mans next year, there's an excellent website available, which informs you about how to travel, where to sit, hotels, etc.etc.
It's at www.club-arnage.com/ Regards, Gerard. |
