BTCC, ETCC or DTM
All three Touring Car championships are going to different countries (BTCC, sort of) and are the major Touring Car series' in Europe, but what Championship do you think will be the most popular with the spectators ie the best to watch.

The comparison between BTCC and DTM has already been done on this forum a couple of months back.
Hmmm, the only one I could really comment on in detail is the BTCC simply because that's the one that I get to the races to watch. I went along to Silverstone last year to watch the ETCC expecting it to be very good and came away bored and disappointed. As for DTM, ask me after Donington Is there any terrestrial TV coverage of the DTM this year? |

The DTM is the best European TC series. The BTCC is just getting itself back to its previous heights and the ETCC is one great series.
If I was to mark them out of ten, it would be: DTM - 9 BTCC - 8 ETCC - 8 I think C4 is going to show the DTM again. Last edited by Speedworx; 14 Apr 2002 at 09:55. |

It sux because over here in Canada, we don't even get to see any of the ETCC. We do get BTCC and DTM but only in the winter off-season after the championship has already done. I guess that's what I get for living in a continent that is thoroughly NASCAR-dominant. Oh well.

DTM is the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft, or in English: German Touring Car Championship.

If you really want to answer this you need to make a few trips to Donington - DTM on 18/19 May, BTCC on 20/21/22 Sept, ETCC 4/5/6 Oct

Im sorry BTCC was the first form of motorsport that really fasinated me, but the DTM in the early 90's really blew me away.
It's getting bigger and better now and aslong as the costs dont soar it can only get better. The BTCC has only gone down hill since 96. It's uber weedy. |

I agree the BTCC is just getting back to a good level, but it still gets my vote as the DTM is dominatedtoomuch by the Merc`s and needs a couple of other makes in there.
The ETCC is only just working up and i think would be more interesting if there was a couple of brit teams to follow. |

The DTM is a shadow of its former self these days, artificially kept alive by Mercedes-Benz.

Having just watched the two ETCC races, I'd say the ETCC has a lot of promise.
I can't place a vote though, since I don't get the BTCC, nor the DTM, on TV here in Sweden.. Last edited by rustyfan; 21 Apr 2002 at 14:19. |

The ETCC - even this early with the new rules - is a lot better than it was last year; race #2 was an excellent one, with some superb racing.
And considering the new ETCC has just been born makes it even sweeter since it can only improve and grow from here |

Re: Poll: BTCC, ETCC or DTM
I've never watched an ETCC race so I probably can't tell you which is the better series, but I have watched DTM and BTCC races. I live in the United States so I can't get ETCC races on tv.

DTM still gets my vote. ETCC with BMW rocks. BTCC with Matt Neal and Aaron Slight is great
