That sounds rather nasty- latest update is that he is in a critical but stable condition. Best of luck for a speedy recovery

Bad thing to a motorsport veteran. Hope he pulls through and can get back in the cockpit.

OVERSTEER should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I've heard on Autosport that he has sufered a torn vertebral artery that sounds serious to me, and whether he competes in the 500 I should think is the least of his worries.
Is this the guy that got a lesson on kick boxing by Nelson Piquet after they clashed in the 1982 German GP?

Yes, Oversteer, he is that same Piquet boxing sparring.

My wishes of best luck and a fast and completely recovery to Eliseo.

Whoaa, that's horrible! He's out for the rest of the season. Here's an update from Autosport: http://www.autosport.com/newsitem.cf...8641&series=18.

The good news is of course that he is awake and speaking.

I think Donnie Beechler will replace Eliseo Salazar for the rest of the season.
That will be a normal choose for A.J. Foyt because the car as already a sponsor.
Beechler was after his accident in the first practice of the Disney race replaced by Airton Dare.

Ritchie Hearn will get the drive in Nazareth. BTW Trebor, IRL no longer races at Disney World Speedway. Beechler was injured at Homestead, and he is not ready for a return just yet.

Sorry, I made a mistake about the first race of the IRL season.
It was Homestead and not the Disney World Speedway.
Richie Hearn is a very good choose.
He was already very succesfull in IRL before a drove Champ Cars.

that sounds like a bad injury to me , i hope all things go well for Eliseo and he can recover quickly.

and richie hearn is to replace him ????

oh well good luck Richie.

on another note , I could hae sworn the Eliseo was retiring at the end of last year ??/
im positive i heard this statement sometime last year and he was gonna finish the season and retire , but then all of a sudden he is back racing this year ???

did he change his mind or did I just get this totally wrong ?
