Herbert to skip practice
According to AutoSport, Johnny Herbert will forego the opening day of practice at Indy, opting to take part in a test day for LeMans. That's all well and good, I can certainly understand his desire to win that race, but I would also think that any oval practice he can get would be smart, too. Has Herbert ever raced on an oval before? Educate me.

Both are important, but Le Mans doesn't has a much practice as the Indy 500 does.

no I believe that Johnny has never raced on an oval , he has i think tested on one but never raced on one.
tough call but as Hakkiman pointed out Le man doesnt have as much practise as Indy , but I still think Indy is gonna be alot harder for him so maybe he should have choosen that ??? |

There are a total of eleven practice days at Indy, in addition to this the track is open for practice on the three qualifying days when there is no qualification attempt being made. Johnny Herbert also tested at Indianapolis on April 23 -24.
Missing one day to go to LeMans shouldn't hurt him. If you are interested, here is a picture of Herbert testing last week. www.cartpages.com/Herbert.jpg |

Herbert's Le Mans deal come together first, so he is right to pick that to start with. Once the pre-quals are out of the way, then he can run at Indy on all the practice days.
