I'm thrilled to bits that Sky are doing the dead cheap half season ticket so that I can stop throwing things at my TV every other weekend. James Allen does my head in .

OK lets try a thread about James Allen and F1 that doesn't revert to SKY!!!!!!!!!!!
Although I do ahve to say that Martin Brundles comments on that issue are forst class and I'm sure that sky fans can kiss good bye to their dreams of having him on their coverage now. He told sky that he will only move if the service is free to all viewers, there are viewers in the first place and if he did move he would want to take his new friend James Allen with him, as they travel to European races together on their Motorbikes, so Staying in London with Wattie would be a let down for him. |

I think Martin Brundle is brilliant. Very informative and always seems to know what is going on. He was a great addition to the team, his chemistry with Muzza was first class and he's really taken a lot of the commentary on his shoulders now.
A class act. |

Martin is the one thing I miss about ITV. I still watch the grid walk.

Brundle is adament that if ITV finish F1 coverage then he will go back to racing as either a sportscar driver, team manager or a touring car driver. He's already turned down Sky on two occasions.
Where was the grid walk on Sunday??? The coverage seemed falt without it. |

i will be totally outspoken here but James Allen has grown on me over the season. it will take him time to settle down completely but i think that by next season you shall be totally in favour of him. he does give a good insight into what goes on in the pit lane - he's only worked there for like 10 years, i think he was a mechanic on Ayrton Senna's car, so he knows what he's talking about. i do think that Martin has picked up bad habits from obviously watching to much CNN

Brundle is great , but Sky is still fantastic without him . Sky doesnt need him at all .
Brundle does a first class job with ITV , i admire him because by people like him saying that he will only go to Sky if its free for the viewers says alot about the man himself . It shows his commitment for the sport and that should be admired . James Allen ???..im really not sure on this one , he is a good commentator , and used to do a very good job when he commentated at Macau for the internation F3 races and also when he worked for ESPN for the Indy 500 coverage , but somehow his style doesnt work so well in F1 as say Martin or Ben , or Wattie . |

I don't know what you guys think about Ted Kravitz, but I think that he is getting better allt he time, and is vertually becoming James Allen.
Allen is growing on me too, I hear that this sudden improvment is down to a tuition course by Murray Walker, notice mistakes begining to slip in recently. Which is something we don't usually expect of him so Murray's teaching must be doing him some good. He'll never be muzza because he was a one and only, a real hero, where as Allen is just too educated and maybe soft to replace him, but his knowledge is unbeatable, the guy tries his best and his start line phrases have changed a lot lately. But ITV are talking to ben Edwards still, because he is actually and strangeley contracted to ITV, which amazes many. |

Ben Edwards does the British Touring Cars for ITV, that'll be why.

I know that he does BTCC for ITV, but it's strange that they won't use him for F1 even though they lend him out to sky :S
The rumour is that ITV are considering an Allen, Edwards Job swap, but I have to say that I think it unlikely. |

I really like the guy who does (used to do) the coverage for Talksport, and the International Motor Racing on ITV - can't remember his name, having been away for so long, but his voice is fantastic.
The problem with James Allen is that he's just too bland! He looks like a product, and not a character! Martin Brundle has charisma and charm to him...and a great sense of humour... |
