Speedworx should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Robbie Kerr scored his first ever British Formula 3 pole position at Brands Hatch today (Saturday), while title rival James Courtney was a lowly, for him, sixth.

Kerr lapped the Brands Indy Circuit in 42.399s in his Alan Docking Racing Dallara-Mugen, almost two-tenths clear of Michael Keohane (Carlin) and surprise package Rob Austin (Menu). Castle Combe race winner Alan van der Merwe was fourth fastest, ahead of the Brazil's Fabio Carbone (Fortec).

Courtney could only manage the sixth fastest time in his Carlin machine, ahead of Bruce Jouanny (Promatecme) and Heikki Kovalainen (Fortec).

The Scholarship Class also provided some big shocks. They will have a separate first race, but if they were combined then poleman Clivio Piccione (T-Sport) would have been third on the grid overall. Series leader Adam Carroll was glad it wasn't, however, because he would not have qualified.

The Sweeney Racing driver will start 10th on the 11-car grid after missing the first few minutes of the session when he overslept!

British F3, Brands Hatch - qualifying 1 (top 10)
Pos Driver Team Car-engine Time
1 Robbie Kerr Alan Docking Racing Dallara-Mugen 42.399s
2 Michael Keohane Carlin Dallara-Mugen 42.579s

4 Alan van der Merwe Carlin Dallara-Mugen 42.667s
5 Fabio Carbone Fortec Dallara-Renault 42.684s
6 James Courtney Carlin Dallara-Mugen 42.722s
7 Bruce Jouanny Promatecme Dallara-Mugen 42.812s
8 Heikki Kovalainen Fortec Dallara-Renault 42.837s
9 James Andanson Avanti Dallara-Mugen 42.851s
10 Shinya Hosakawa Carlin Dallara-Mugen 42.896s

Scholarship Class
1 Clivio Piccione T-Sport Dallara-Mugen 42.596s
2 Robert Dahlgren Sweeney Dallara-Mugen 42.769s

Bad news for Adam Carroll

In all fairness, the hotel apparently forgot Adam's alarm call so he missed most of qualifying.

First race was just the old procession thang but the second race was a lot more interesting.

Congrats to Robbie.

Bad turn out though - was everyone abstaining due to the football????

Well done to Robbie he looked extremly quick in both races its a shame James couldn't get past Keohane sooner in race two cos we may have had an extremly good race.
