Boardman at Snetts

Just got my copy of the nice Redshoes newsletter in my mailbox and read this.

Quote:
BTC-Production runner Tom Boardman was forced to sit out most of last weekend's second free practice session after been shown the black flag. Officials called the 18-year old into the pits claiming he had repeatedly ran wide and taken out several marker posts. Boardman however, protested his innocence pointing out that teammate Norman
Simon was suffering from a brake problem and had spun a number of times. "They saw the BMW go wide and assumed it must have been me," he explained.
I had to miss Snetterton, so don't know too much of what went on there, but I'm astonished that the officials could make a mistake like that. Anyone got any opinions on this?

The trackside marshall/observer would normally identify cars by race number, and call clerk of course by phone.
COC would have to authorise black flag!! I wonder how many observers were calling the the COC?.

I like toms attacking style, and this is the BTCC, wher u expect to see this style of driving!!

Take a look at Boardman's start when you watch the TV coverage tomorrow...

Did he jump the start in the Sprint race?

Nah, it was just more proof that RWD cars getter better traction at the start. The ETCC is just the same, watch that, it happens all the time there.

I know - I'm surprised he found a gap at the far side. With FWD and RWD experience to his name, he's going to be a desirable candidate for a top drive.

neilwaynesmith is a back marker
Remember Smokin' Jo Winklehock? In 1994, his starts were the stuff of legend, like making about 6 rows gain on the start at Brands Hatch when all of the rep-boxes were sitting there vapourising their front tyres.
