Chiltons Penalty
What happened about TC getting a drive through? I know he didn't take it so will he get a time penalty - they can't just let him off!

i think he will yeah, its basically a blantant disregard of the rules! 30 second penalty or something like that i would expect, maybe less seeing as Knockhill is quite a tiny circuit.

Yeah I was wondering about that too, I listened to it on TOCA radio and didn't think he took his penalty so he should have the book thrown at him for that, I think it was Gareth Howells (correct me if i'm wrong) who had to serve a penalty and took it, so what makes TC so special that he gets away with ignoring a penalty that was served to him?
All I have to say is get TC out of that car and get Graves in there, he would do a much better job, oh I forgot, TC dad bought the cars which means TC has to drive, silly me!! |

Appently it was due to a team member being out of position during the pitstop. GH got the same penalty and took it. TC was arguing that it should be a team penalty so he didn't take it.
If TC was let off the penalty and a fine was given to the team instead of the driver, what about all the penaltys earlier in the season given to drivers (e.g. Harveys wheels not on in 5 mins before start - was he supposed to get out and put them on?!) |

The penalty was withdrawn because the stewards recognised that the team member was out of position for safety reasons.

nice to see i'm not the only one that doesn't particularly like Chilton and the way he got his drive. I agree with OVERSTEER, get Graves in the car and show him how its done!

I'm disappointed with the attacks on Chilton here. It was the team's doing, not his. The call to come in for the penalty rests with the team manager.

The majority of the field got their drives the same way Chilton did though, it's only because he's 17 and his dad payed for it that some people have a different attitude towards him.
Can't fault him on anything yesterday though, he managed to keep it steady in the rain. |

EVERYONE pays for drives (nearly, anyway). like touringlegend says, there's no reason to take tom any differently.
however, his driving standards in the sprint race were a little adventerous for the rain. he was all over the place. |

most of the Astras got slightly sideways going down Duffus, that was entertaining. That was what I saw during the Sprint, and well, Tom wasn't exempt from the Astras tendency to have a light rear.

I agree with pip that he should take his penalty like a man, he thought he was man enough to enter this championship in such a strong car for little work in comparison to the more deserving likes of Graves and co.

all i'm saying is that it isn't particularly fair that Graves who is more deserving of the drive after his hard graft last season gets left out in favour of a guy who has barely done anything. But enough, i don't wanna get into a fight about it. I understand about the penalty being wiped and everything now, and i ain't got anything against Chilton as a driver or a person.

They would probably never have made it to that class if it wasn't for Chilton's funds.

aye i know that, its just the fact it was like "Here's the money you need for everything, oh but u can only have it if my kid drives for you...." Barwell couldn't exactly say no cos they wanted to be in the touring class so they were stuck i guess. Oh well, any idea what the situation will be like next year?

It must have been during, otherwise Chilton would have been black flagged for not coming in.
