Dumbest thing you've ever seen anyone do in a race car

Kimi today had my heart in my mouth. Whilst yes, he was great to watch, and yes, he's generally great, that still has to rate as THE most MENTAL thing I have EVER seen anyone do in a race car!!

For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, Panis blew his engine at the top of the Eau Rouge hill. ENOURMOUS cloud of smoke and oil. Kimi came through Eau Rouge at a quite simply PHENOMENAL speed. Exiting it he wouldn't have been able to see a thing. There could have been a car spinning in the middle of the road. The track kinks right, he wouldn't have seen where he was going.

So, like a man POSSESED Kimi dives straight into this cloud of blindness doing about 190mph!!! SUICIDAL!! Seriously, doing that you're going to DIE. DIE. THE most STUPID (and yet wonderful!!) thing I have EVER seen ANYONE do in an F1 car.

Think of any better??

The Rossett precision-parking incident at Monaco a few years back was pretty impressive!

Probably not as dangerous as Kimi though!

I like Kimi very much but what he did was not wonderful, he was risking his own life as well as others. Racing is something beautiful but life is more sacred than the thrill of racing! Just look at my signature and it says all: "The art of bravery is hard to master, because the line between courage and stupidity is hair thin!"

When I saw that cloud of smoke, I thought "Oh no, that's Kimi's lap gone out the window". So I was very surprised to see that he actually improved his time on that lap.

In the end, it proved not to be his fastest lap. If that had been the case, it might have been disallowed, since there was a yellow flag situation? Not the safest thing Kimi has done...

DC crashing into the pit wall in Adelaide in 1995 was worse. Kimi wanted pole so was always going to keep going on his fast lap.

The best thing I have ever seen in that matter is a guy jumping out of 15 store building, it surely was a better painting than all of Picasso’s work, I assure you that!

But yes Kimi is the future king of F1 but even a King can have a short reign if he does not use his head properly!

Long live the King

Oh please, get off the glory-support bandwagon...

My boy was BRILLIANT today!!! WDC in 2003!!! YEEEEEEES!!!

Anyways...

Like David said, it's GOT to be Rosset's hilarious antics at Monaco in 1998 when he attempted to 'maneouvre' his languishing Tyrrell through a teeeeeeeeny gap in the armco... idiot...

WDC 2003? Let's not get carried away. I said future and 2003 is more present time than future!

Kimi will probably be champion in 2003. Today showed his commitment to the job of qualifying.

Will you bet your money on that Hakkiman? Remember Kimi needs more experience and stability during the entire season plus Mac most improve much much much more! Do you see that coming as soon as 2003? I strongly doubt. What I never doubt is Kimi's god given talent!

Yes that was what I was going to post. That must have the the bonehead move of the century.

We dont know exactly what Kimi saw. At least I dont. Maybe he could see enough to avoid the stricken car.

Jody Scheckter, British GP 1973, spinning on the last corner of the first lap, and involving fully a half of the field in his resulting accident. It's one of the most frightening bits of footage I have ever seen in my life.

I said he MIGHT win it. MS won't carry on winning forever. 2003 may be the time of change.

Gerhard Berger coming out of the pits in a Ferrari in the 1993 Portugese GP and immediately losing it and spinning across the main straight directly in front of Derek Warwick's 'Footwork'. If it had happened a second later they'd both be dead.

I remember Christian being quoted as saying that he was determined to keep his eyes open during the accident, because he thought he might never have another chance to use them.

Yeah, I remember that one. *Shiver*

I'm not sure whether to label Kimi keeping his foot on it "brave" or "irresponsible". It all depends on how much he actually was able to see.
