Group 5 racecars
I’m looking for VHS-video-tapes about the „Deutsche Rennsport-Meisterschaft“ (DRM) or Group 5 racecars.
I’m thankful for every information. Best regards Karl www.lisa-racing.com |

SL will have a photo of a moby dick (he has all my photos and will one day load them or what ever one does), not the original but one of the Joest copys raced by Morriti (or something like that) I did not think it looked as good as a K3.
Or if you look on the 962 link I posted elsewhere there is the complete 935 story with loads of pictures. Getting back to the original question, I have searched for Grp 5 Videos and have not had any luck, sorry. Maybe cyber's knows? Last edited by Nordic; 17 Sep 2002 at 12:03. |

Remember it ? 1978 ? Course I do. The first year I went. car 43 the Martini 935/78 of Schurti / Stommelen is what you are refering to I think. Qualified 3rd overall 3.30.9, 16sec quicker than the next Gp V. Top speed 222 km/h on the straight.
Photo will be here soon, if I can get it sized correctly. FAB, please let me know what car you want, quite a few from 78 / 79 / 80 / 81 Simon |

Videos of that era will be tough to find, VCRs were either not invented yet, or horribly expensive...

For modern footage of 935s of all types from HSR there is the 'Porsche the Legendary Cars' DVD and Video from Duke Video. It covers all racing Porsches including 935, 936, 956/962, 911 GT1, 917 etc. Good interviews as well

You often see footage on Eurosport etc. of Group 5, Group C etc. when they show clips from past races etc. that is not available on any video. I'm particulalry thinking about Group C from 1991-1992 that I have seen in clips recently on Eurosport.
Is this footage from the manufactuers/broadcsters archives. If so is there no way for a fan to get hold of this footage (particulalry from manufactuers). |

...was a 365
I've just re checked the 1978 entry list and car 86 is shown as a 512, although the photo caption states a 312. The entry does not show any 365's only 512's. Confused ????? Simon |

I've just gone back and re reread everything.
The top speed could be mph, nothing is shown as mph or kph, being French I assumed kph, although the book is the English translation. The Renault no 1 clocked 224.935 and the no 3 car 220.586 making the 935 2nd fastest. The Pozzi team Ferrari did race 365's in the GT catagory before Le Mans, these might have been upgraded. However the NART entry is described as a Boxer, 512 and 312. All 3 cars are shown with the 4942 engine. Simon |
