kmchow should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
By Golly! They're twins!!

I've been following ST since late '95, but it wasn't until tonight that I confirmed something of great importance!! The '92 BTCC championship winning Toyota Carina was sold as the humble Toyota Corolla over here in NA!! They're the same cars! Over here, the '92 BTCC bodystled Toyota Corolla basically controls something like 80%-90% of the student driving school fleet!

How I finally know? I've recently completed my collection of Autosport Touring Car Year Annuals from '92-'98!

I think you have missed one, there was one in 1991 also.

Are you referring to the Carina's that are now racing in Australian Super Touring? If you are, then you are wrong about the body styles-that car was never sold in North America as the Corolla...it may look similar but it's not the same.

Yeah, I'm aware the Carina/Corolla also took the '91 championship. But was the '91 bodystle the same as the '92? 'Cause assuming the'91s were sold to privateers who raced them in '92, I don't that bodystle was sold in NA. But then, does anyone have pictures of the '91 Carina bodystyle?

No, I'm not referring tothe Carinas currently racing in the ASTC. It's this bodystle of the Corolla/Carina.

However,I do love the ASTC Carina bodystle--the 2nd best ones. The '01 Asian bodystled Corollas are quite nice looking.

Actually, I was refering to the 1991 Touring Car Year.

Andy Rouse ran Carina's in 1991 & 1992 of the same body shape (i.e. same as your picture reference). Gary Ayles (ex-F3) was his partner in 1991. I think TOM's picked up the contract in 1993 when the body shape changed to the Carina E, with Rouse going off the build the new Mondeo.

The '92 body shape ones were sold as Toyota Coronas in Australia, I think they look quite nice, esp. when dumped on 18s

I thought the title of this thread regarded Ian and Duncan Smith, but you never see both of them at the same time
