Chris Pook Statement re Alliance with F1

Has anyone seen or know where to obtain a copy of a supposed media release/statement made this afternoon (Thursday) on the Gold Coast by Pook in relation to an alliance between F1 and CART?

Have searched everywhere I can, made calls etc but no one seems to know about it BUT I am getting enquiries from a US Journalist about it.

Any help appreciated thanks.

Not a word on the Net. I think your contacts imagined it.

i saw it on teletext. Pook said:

"If its possible that we can help develop F1 drivers, they can come run with us. I think it would be very positive for motorsports"

da Matta said this was stupid, because as he put it correctly, 'There are better drivers in this series then there are in F1.' And how right he is.

Liz,

My contact in the US isn't the type of person to imagine these things. She is a professional motoring journalist who researches her stories very thoroughly.

Have to say, though, I am surprised by your dismissal of this simply because you can't find anything on it!

I have spoken with two people in Surfers already and both have confirmed de Matta's comments and the Pook conference/statement. What i am after, however, is a copy of the statement Pook made.

Sorry if I sounded brusque. I just found it odd that absolutely no one was reporting it anywhere.

Even stranger still that the BBC are carrying reports of delays in these talks...

However, just because it isn't being reported yet doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

My contact has some very good close sources inside CART and she is usually right - in this case it has been on the boil for about 10-14 days now.

Judging by what they said in our papers today, working out the math with the NYSE is the difficulty. But having worked with corporate securities law before, I am not impatient.

Think the problem will lie more with what Ecclestone wants than anything else

And therein lies the problem. bernie won't give anything away. he is not a 'white knight'. what he will want is absolute control to shape CART into what is useful for his purposes. frankly I wish it wouldn't happen (a takeover)It will not be CART as you or I know it if it does happen.
