Pukekohe Demonstrates Project Blueprint
The restart of Race One demonstrates what Project Blueprint is going to do to V8 Supercars - turn 2 and 8 cars one after the other - NONE of them able to pull out and even attempt to try to overtake anyone else.

I'd like to post up a Poll (grrrrrr I hear you all say ) but thought I would just pratter on here instead. If someone would like to Poll these questions to get a visual answer please do by all means (as I am not too sure how to do it!)
In regards to Project Blueprint, what do we think will happen. I have a fair idea, but hope I will be wrong. I was wondering, if you all pick one of the options below, will it give us a pointer to next years results? 1. cars/drivers/teams equal 2. cars/drivers equal, teams unequal 3. cars equal, drivers/teams unequal 4. drivers/teams equal, cars unequal 5. teams/cars equal, drivers unequal 6. cars/drivers/teams unequal So what do we think? |

There will never be equality, but project blueprint will make the fields very, very close. Unfortunately, it will reduce the amount of passing.

I saw a fair bit of passing at Puke, it was a nice change.

Passing wil always take place when one of the leading teams starts at the back of the field - but I will agree there was a bit more passing that usual - however, most of it was caused by tyre problems, lock ups etc

Is it just me or did others notice a total lack of passing at Bathurst this year?
Over recent times, the amount of passing has slowly declined. I was watching a tape the other week of the 2000 season, and even back then we saw a fair bit more of it. Next year will be even worse, with all the cars likely to be covered by less than a second in qualifying (already has happened some times). I say reduce the aero reliance, make the tyres smaller & get them throwing it around sideways! Though it'll never happen, as TC has his head so far up his arse that he won't see there is a problem till its too late. |

The point at Bathurst is, why pass at all until the last 10-15 laps?
With the safety car there is almost no way you will lap the field, or at least the cars in the top ten, so why risk an accident to get past when it only means you have a one and a half car length advantage at the next safety car period. If they could remove cars without the safety car for more accidents there would be a more resonable chance of seeing some actual racing going on as buiding up a lead will have a definite advantage. I was as as happy as anyone to see Skaifey and Richo win this year, but I feel very sorry for Ingall after building up a 30+ second gap on Richo in the wet only to see it all eaten away by the safety car. There was in the end (hindsight being a wonderful thing) no need to drive that fast in the wet to get an advantage as it was simply taken away. The safety car has a lot to answer for in my opinion. |

The ONLY way to lap the field is with the safety car - when Race Control does their usual trick of picking up the wrong car that is! (What really worries me is that Schenken is at Bathurst this weekend for the 24 Hour race....) Last edited by RaceTime; 14 Nov 2002 at 20:50. |

Touche Racey!
Like I said somewhere else about the 24-hour in regards to how many cars will finish, with the safety car on track for probably 10 hours then quite a few more cars might go the distance |
