Tobacco advertising bans..... ;-)
Hello,
Have just been reading the BBC news site and came across the following, http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/moto...ne/2570521.stm Look closely at the picture! Yep, under a story on Formula 1, is a picture from the start at Le Mans, from the late 80's/early 90's. It made me giggle, anyway. Cheers Mike |

Is that the short tail Alpha(Brun) Porsche nearest the camera, if so it's 1990.

Just shows that the BBC have forgotten what a racing car looks like!
BTW-does anyone remember the last sports car team sponsored by tobacco? French ban would rule out Le Mans. Most of the world's sport now seems to manage without it. |

That's because they seem to manage without sponsors.

Damn good laugh anyway - with all the F1 hype, they went and used a Le Mans start - brilliant. Last edited by Aysedasi; 13 Dec 2002 at 17:58. |

Sure puts thing in perspective.
Anyone seen the Grand Am / Rolex ad they're debating over at the IMSA forum, using the silhouette of the R8 cresting a hill? Something like this F1 blunder makes you see how easily an ad co. could choose a photo of a car not eligible for one series when there is some crossover, if they can get this wrong. |
