Sainz confirmed at Citroen

From www.wrc.com

"Citroen has confirmed that two-time world champion Carlos Sainz will drive for the French team on all 14 World Rally Championship rounds next season.

"Following his split with long-time co-driver Luis Moya last week, the Spaniard will be co-driven by Marc Marti. As a result of Sainz joining Citroen, Telefonica Movistar, the Spanish telecommunications company, becomes an official sponsor of the rally team."

As suspected Carlos has joined Citroen, and I think that the team will be the major challengers to Peugeot in 2003.

That's great. I thought Sainz's WRC career was over. At least he's got one more chance to complete his CV with that 'missing' 3rd title...

I think the Xsara WRC will suit both Sainz and McRae, Citroen must be very chuffed to have taken the strong line up that Ford couldn't afford to have.

Citroen could well be the suprise if 2003.

Good -- I think Luis Moya will be sorry he stomped off home to pout. I'm looking forward to seeing Sainz v. McRae!

Citroen and Peugeot fight. Battle for the maunfactorer's title will be hard and sometimes downright brutal. Peugeot is going to have four cars in total including Panizzi and Rovanparra doing nine rallies. Will Citroen bring out the fourth Xsara of Bulgaski and Radstrom??

Not sure but, is that the third separate team that CM and CS have been teammates for? Subaru, Ford and now Citroen? Do they get on well or it is just coincidence?

I vote coincidence. They definitely didn't get on at Subaru & although they both seem to have mellowed there have been some spiky incidents at Ford re; team orders, in the past. So now with Citroen ....???

Any idea what's happening with Radstrom and Bugalski?? It seems they have been completely sidelined, do Citroen have the capability for a 4th car? I doubt it, but otherwise it seems they're both on the scrapheap.

Does this mean Ford losing Telefonica, or will they sponsor two teams?

As far as I know, Telefonica are Sainz's personal sponsor, so I doubt they'' be continuing sponsoring Ford.
