Track Changes

Has anyone else noticed that since the start of last year, virtually every track has changed, or will changed/modified in some way this year?

Australia: Modifications to catch-fencing to prevent repeat of fatality in 2001.
Malaysia: Nothing
Brazil: Change gravel traps to tarmac run-off areas.
Imola: Ditto
Barcelona: New grandstand (and proposed change to penultimate corner).
Austria: Alteration to Pit Entrance.
Monaco: Proposed changes for 2004?
Canada: track made shorter by moving Harpin to give more run-off, alteration to pit exit.
Nurburgring: Addition of new track section.
Britian: Tarmac run-offs replace gravel traps.
France: Ditto, major alteration to final corners for this year.
Germany: Obvious! Cut the track in half!

Hungary?? Tarmac run offs?
Belgium: Bus-stop chicane and tarmac run-offs.
Italy: New pit buildings? chicane modifications - (sleeping policemen)!
USA: Nothing
Japan: Dulop curve alterations, plus major redevlopment of 130R this year after Allan Mcnish's crash last year.

Tarmac run-offs at Hungaroring, yes. Corner 11 and 14, at least. Also improvements for the grandstands (plus the sectors were arranged differently)

It is 130R that concerns me most. It is being made less of a corner, so should be easily flat for everyone

While they're at it, why don't they just rip down the name 'suzuka' and stick up a sign 'The track formerly known as'.

Why the hell must these pussy ass track wreckers do this!? What sets motorsport away from everything else is the whole risk management. If the driver's don't want to die at 130R, fine, they should lift! If they're willing to throw their asses on the line for that 0.1 of a second, flat and take a roll of the dice...

Speaking of track changes, does anyone know when (or if) the new Silverstone pits complex/club corner will be done?

Actually I believe that by "new" Steve wants to say from this year on. The part between corner 12 and 13 is no longer a straight... ok, a 100 yards straight... but the corner 12 will be 90 degs and the part between corner 11 and 12 will be a bit longer. Also corner 1 will be modified, which I believe is good. Corner 1 was the only possibility to pass there, but because of it's wide 180 U turn layout that possibility was more like a miracle. The new design looks better. (it's kinda steep, downhill and blind corner there)

This is not much over (considering its simplicity), but can images should be less than 400 x 400 pixels. Thanks. At least it is spot on in terms of the thread topic! Forum Rules. Adam.

I reckon the changes at turn 1 will increase passing there.

The change over the back is completely pointless.

The change in the back section is retarded!

There seems to be very little runoff for the new turn 1.

The old turn 2 (turn 3 now, I guess, that stupid 2nd hairpin) should have been demolished, let the track run right along the fence near where it says TAXI.

While they're at it, why don't they modify the section between Silver 1 and Bronze? Iron it out a bit and make it straighter to increase the chances of over taking at the new section near the endof the lap, - if someone gets a run coming out of the previos corner.(between bronze ans silver 2).

I've just realised: at Italy, they moved the podium so it is now above the pit-lane to give the fans a better view: Surely they could do a similar thing at Silverstone? move the podium so it is attached to the bridge (crossing the main straight)in someway perhaps?

See that place that says "new section"???? That was the place where I jumped on the track on 28th October last year, although the worker didn't allow me

I just *had* to say that.

Now, mac, if the changes will allow more passing... is a thing to see.

Sorry, sometimes I think that people put smilies there just to make me cry. I have been in bad mood lately....

And now I noticed that there are two "new sections". Well, I meant the one near "main entrance". And I can assure you all that nothing was there in October.

The map is far from being an accurate, and anyway, that runoff area means simply a tarmac or gravel trap area. There's nothing wrong with it being so small, you don't have anywhere to go there. There are no concrete walls, spectators zones, you simply go uphill.

Excuse me? As far as I can remember, there was still a chicane on the last straight.

The pit exit and the hairpin are the only changes I was aware of.

I'd have to agree with Montoya's comments regarding how best to improve the Hungaroring:
"Rip up the whole track and start again".

There was a chicane somewhat halfway in the last straight. can't quite remember exactly when it got changed.

Does anyone else remember or am i wrong?
