RaceTime should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Pretty signs with GRM

Garry Rogers Motorsport has signed former Holden Young Lion Nathan Pretty to a long-term agreement to drive for the Melbourne-based team.

Pretty will drive the Just Car Insurance Holden Motorsport Monaro in the 2003 Nations Cup Championship _ the same car he co-drove to victory in the inaugural Bathurst 24-Hour race last November.

As well as driving the awesome 7-litre Monaro, 29-year-old Pretty will also play an integral part in GRM’s V8 Supercar program, joining the team for each of its eight allotted test days and the annual V8 Supercar endurance
races.

“I am delighted that we have been able to offer Nathan his first full-time drive and he has agreed to sign a long-term deal with GRM,” team owner Garry Rogers said.

“Nathan has proven himself to be an extremely talented and skilled driver who has produced impressive results with limited resources or opportunities. He is also a decent young man who deserves the chance.”

Pretty says he is thrilled to have secured his first full-time drive, having driven on a part-time basis only in V8 Supercars over the past five years.

“It is great to finally have the chance to prove myself with a full-time drive and what better way to do it than in the awesome Monaro?” Pretty said.

“The Monaro has the potential to win the Nations Cup Championship, while driving full-time and testing GRM’s Commodore V8 Supercar on a regular basis allows me to improve my skill as a driver while giving the team a greater chance of success in the annual V8 Supercar endurance races.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity and repaying the faith Garry Rogers and his team have shown in me,” he said.

Pretty will make his Nations Cup debut in the Just Car Insurance Holden Motorsport Monaro at the first round of the series, the Clipsal 500, in Adelaide on 20-23 March.

Wasn't someone asking "Whatever happened to Nathan Pretty?" just the other day?

Congrats to Nathan and well done to GR for spotting another diamond in the rough.

Onlooker should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
With only 8 days testing and one of the new cars with the 2nd one coming in mid season (by the time atleast 4 days will have been used up) just what will Nathan get for stepping out of the HRO driver line up(and a chance to win the big one) that he couldn't have had anyway i.e the Monaro drive?
I think that it is more a covering all the bases than giving a driver a great oppurtunity.Tander got the job mid season after S Richards left??????

I heard a small whisper that Nathan had a drive but knew not where or what it was supposed to be in.

Nice to see Nathan picked up a ride with GRM, although it's not the one I thought it would have been.

Wonder if signing of Jamie Whincup was only a smokescreen. Will we still see Nathan Pretty in V8 Supercars in 2003 and not only in the enduros.

MRN and AA are really only reporting what GRM have announced and, at this stage, I think this is the way it will be...

I personally wouldn't be surprised to see Pretty and Whincup swap seats - Only my wild speculation though, it just makes more sense to me!
