Montoya smashes Valencia lap record

Finally, the Williams is showing it's teeth. Montoya did the lap in 1'10'143, smashing the record held by Raikkonen (1'10'62). Go to www.planetf1.com/home/story_10728.shtml

Good to see! But, as you can see from the other thread, the F2003GA is a missle out of the box. Gonna be another short season?

Alonso was also impressive to only be 7 tenths behind. If that was a qualifying lap from both drivers, it seems Renault have made some ground.

Lets be truthfull here, even in the darker days at ferrari they smashed the track record at Fiorano in pre season testing, this story is as old and regular as Coulthard saying that he will be world champion this year....

Ahhh, this thread is better than the Ferrari thread. After the bad news, these good news are welcome!

And I'm sure you'll have no problem post the relevant quotes to back up that "old and regular story of DC saying he will be world chamipon" here.

Back to the topic at hand, it's good to see the Williams with the 2003 aero package timing in some good laps, even though the F2003-GA seem scary.

I'll nevertheless wait for the F2002 vs F2003-GA back to back track evaluation next week at Imola before I start panicking.

I'm so sorry. Didn't realize that asking you to back up your claim would have that effect.

Ignore him chris, he's a bit touchy when it comes to DC.

if Mclaren and williams do get their act together and Michelin give them some boots that can actually use at the start, middle and end of a stint I'm afraid that it assures Ferrari another title...

In all likelihood, only two more weeks of testing remain before the season kicks off, next week Ferrari runs a back to back comparison between the F2002 and the F2003-GA at Imola, and to the best of my knowledge, only Sauber will be present. The week after, I've no idea, and then we're on the first week of the season were generally, only cars shakedowns and last system checks are run.

All this leads me to think that it's very likely that they're scheduled to run together at Melbourne March the 7th.

what does all that mean,
Williams are better than a old Mclaren,
as was unfortunatley posted on the other tread the Ferrari looks to be fast.
Only relative lap times are any good,
all the cars, at one track, on the same day, in a race,
looks like we'll have to wait till Australia.
