when was LMP introduced
can anyone enlighten me as to the date prototypes were introduced? I believe c.1950
also when was the LMP category defined as such? cheers |

To quote Janos Wimpffen,
"The 1957 edition of the 12 Hours was the first time that the Sports / GT split applied to Sebring, although interestingly it was not used officially at Le Mans before 1959." The ACO first used the "LMP" abbreviation for the post-Gp.C prototypes in 1994. |

were there any post war privateer entries called prototypes due to the fact that there were insufficient homologated manufacturer cars?
