Who's coming to play at Lydden?
Come on then - say on here if you are coming out to play. Make sure you come and say hello to the Piston Broke Startline Crew. Any news on what drivers are coming - and what new cars are expected to make an appearance. Does anyone know what the entry list looks like?

expect the regulars to be there in the supercar category (the usuall 11!!) You will just have to watch Lawrence Gibson after his last round antics!! There may be a few new modified cars including the Lotus Exige of Mike Dresser and the Peugeot 205 of Greg Rose. I am not sure if the bmw mini of david binks will be ready yet or the ford ka of phil collard.....just have to wait and see. I would expect around 100-120 cars.
The entry list should be avialable at the end of the week..........my tip for victory is Will Gollop at his home round. |

I'll be there (watching) - should be interesting, new cars and all that, the Exige should look awesome and the new Mini should be a laugh.
The micra is Chris Evans' and has apparently been very impressive, I'm looking forward to seeing it up against the supercars in the superfinal at the end of the day - it's great watching Novas, Micras and the like dicing with the cosworths. 11 supercars? Hang on.... 1) Doran (RS200) 2) Gollop (Focus) 3) Carnegie (Focus) 4) Mundy (Focus) 5) Cross (Focus) 6) Holfeld (Escort) 7) Manning (Escort) 8) Grant (Escort) 9) McCluskey (306) 10) Gibson (6R4) 11) Briggs (TT or 6R4) That should cover it! I assume that the other supercar drivers aren't doing many (or any) events this year - Bell, Donaghue, Winter, Coyne and probably some others as well. |

I'd better make sure I take a couple of cans of Red Bull with me - I'm sure as hell going to need to get off the grid quickly with that lot there!

yeap those are the 11 supecars!! I think Briggs will be in his TT. Chris evans will be there in his Micra.........2 out of 3 win so far in the modified class. it is a little flying machine....watch for the 3 wheel hop it has....a proper pocket rocket!! Evans will clean up in modified this year. He should have won croft as well. David BEllerby and gordon rogers will be his closest challenger but the nova and corsa dont seem to have the legs of the Micra. It is a proper super duper tony bardy built modified car. And it looks as well as it goes.
As for Tony BEll in the Corolla Wrc, i havent heard what he is doing.........if anything he will venture back into europe i think or the Belned championship. donoghue will only be at the odd round and probably anglesey as it is a round of the irish championship. In fact his metro seems to be on its last legs as well...after struggling to run in ireland. As for the rest of the irish then they usally stay at home. This is a key round for both Doran and Carnegie who cant really afford to have a bad weekend. Last edited by Peter S; 9 Apr 2003 at 13:06. |

Hopefully we will have finished re-shelling Stuart Emery's new 205 by the 21st. We're going as fast as we can, but have jobs and families to consider as well!

Is it anything like the versions used in the Trophee Andros?
Is it compulsory to wear a felt hat and have to drive by looking through the steering wheel, the same as 99% of Micra's on the road? If so then we can expect to see a nice tartan travel rug in the back, along with a small yappy dog. |

It also has a limited edition beige sparco seat.
Driving technique involves going as slowly as possible in the middle of the track (blocking everybody) whilst muttering about 'young people today' and saying things like 'he won't get there any faster'. Extra bonus points awarded for driving the wrong way around the track and be completely oblivious of all other vehicles. Last edited by BertMk2; 9 Apr 2003 at 13:49. |

Does it involve taking an age to engage first and take the handbrake off on the startline too?

Assuming it's the new shape, it must also be that horrid shade of orange/peach that we all know and love. I'll have to check that the picnic table is well secured before he races it.

See you there Gnomex - still don't know if Lanky is going to be joining us. Spoke to Mad Hats the other day. His first time being pit crew for a certain ex-minicrosser was less than enjoyable. Mainly because the racer in question was unbelievably rude to him all day. He said he may consider a return to orange! Let's hope so 'cos we need him in the squad!

I've known Mad Hats for a good few years, and he's a thoroughly decent bloke. Always rings me up every couple of weeks to see whats new. It's just a real shame that due to various incidents over the last couple of years he really seems to be losing his interest in the sport. He's come in for abuse at Rallycross. He's nearly been squashed on the startline (more than once) with no comeback form the powers that be. And now when he thought he'd try his hand at pit crew, that's backfired on him as well through no fault of his own. No wonder it's getting difficult to field a full bank of orange. Come back to the Piston Broke Mad Hats - you'll be amongst friends there!
