x_dt should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
4pm BST (5pm CET, 11am EST)

Full schedule:
http://www.formula-3000.net/2003_04_sched.php
(it says on the page 'A1-Ring schedule' but that is surely a typo - the A1-Ring race was race 3)

There's one for the Stupidity Archives! Wirdheim, who dominated the race, did the complete slowdown along the pit wall, and let Kiesa go right by him about 50 feet from the checkered flag! Unthinkable! He didn't even notice him!

Sounds like a riot! Wish I had seen it. I love the bit where Sperafico gets revenge on Pantano for an earlier nerf! What comes around goes around, eh?!

Just one more evidence, that F3000 does not product top racers.

Windhem suffered a major brain fade on the last lap while he was stopping his car waving at his teammates while the checker flag was 200 yards away. Nicolas Kiesa passed Windhem for an improable win. Windhem was embarassed infront of a crowd of sponsors and F1 teams.

what do you think about the tocacello/liuzzi incident?
was it a technical problem of tocacello or did he brake?

that was a helluva lot of luck for liuzzi and the marshalls behind the fence

How can you be so stupid to stop on the finish straight in the first place? Isn't it custom to do a victory lap? Is it common sense to stop a car at all on the "hot" circuit after a race? God almighty, this guy might as well go back to driving bumper cars or whatever he's been doing before...

Well that Wirdheims career soured and in front of the F1 crowd too! reckon we will see him in sportscars a la Thomas Enge next year??

And Pantano should have let Spreafico thru really - which one is that btw , the one who was with Petrobras last year? wheres the other one gone (his twin, not the slow cousin) does anyone know?

Rodrigo has been basically reduced to watching his idiot twin brother from the Coloni pits.

I like Björn, and I think he's a great driver, but what an idiotic thing to do! He did notice Kiesa, but only after Kiesa had passed him. Notice how Björn floored the accelerator, but it was too late! Goodness me - have something like that ever happened before?!

I think Pantano was equally to blame for that. He should have let Sperafico (Ricardo, btw) by, as Sperafico was a whole lap down. Witness how Björn Wirdheim let Sperafico by - Pantano should have done the same, and then he would have won the race when Wirdheim slowed down!

Regarding Liuzzi, his crew couldn't possibly have informed him that Toccacelo was going to get a drive through penalty (a deserved one, btw, to be served within three laps) for cutting a corner. Why didn't they inform Liuzzi of that? He wouldn't have been so aggressive then, and the incident wouldn't have happened in the first place. F3, I think Liuzzi plainly misjudged the situation, and got too close.

And could we please now lose those silly nicknames for Zsolt Baumgartner? (Zslow and Slowgartner.) He finished a very credible fifth at Monaco, and is not slow at all, so those nicknames are clearly misplaced.

The positive thing for Björn is that he pulls a further 8 points ahead, as neither Pantano nor Sperafico scored any points. But what a way to lose a race! And at the classic venue of Monaco too, where most drivers, if they were to choose just one place where they would most like to win, this would be it!

That has to be one of the funniest things i've heard, if i was his team boss i'd take him down to the finish line before the race & show him exactly where it is.

Yep - Mark Martin in Busch GN came into the pits a lap early when leading under yellows, also a sportscar race in the 60s when a formation finish went wrong when the chap in 4th caught up and overtook the first 3 on the line (Rob Slotermaker involved, IIRC).

Disagree, Sperafico's actions were reprehensible in the extreme and he should be forced to sit out the remainder of the championship.

NO!! To trundle round in the company of F3000 rookies, not overtaking anyone, when you have loads more experience than almost anyone else in the field does not take much effort. B'sides which they're easier to spell.
