Like the ALMS the truck series is also growing. More trucks and sponsors are signing up by the day.

The problem I have with Strana is that unlike the Euro trucks theirs are tube framed silhouette racers.

The NASCARization of truck racing must stop.
Run the Euro rules or I will not watch on TV much less come to an event. "Real" trucks are what I want to see!!!

Good point Kurt. Actually, there used to be a healthy scene racing semi trucks on ovals. But then they went to tube frames, and the fanbase dried up overnight.

Well, they were going to be sanctioned by IMSA, and support ALMS events.

Well..then go to a DP race!

The NASCARization of truck racing must stop.
Run the Euro rules or I will not watch on TV much less come to an event. "Real" trucks are what I
want to see!!

Should be easy then, if this is your request, go watch a GARRA (in person to get the full effect) event....I hear there are a lot of similarities with a GARRA event and NASCAR (door banging, close racing 'show', large crowds, sounds of the DPS, and some may say the "greenhouse of the DP's") and STRANA. Enjoy....

Waco Racer should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I e-mailed STRANA the other day and asked about this year and next year and this was the reply:

Thanks for you interest in the Super Truck Racing Association of North America (STRANA) and the Tonka Super Truck Racing Series.

There will be four trucks competing in the Celebrity Challenge.

Our plan is to have a full series for next year.

Keep track of any/all new developments at www.stranaracing.com

Regards,

Jeff

Tube frame or OEM frame it doesn't matter to me I just hope that STRANA is successful.

Well i had looked forward to the July kickoff of the series, but if they will have more trucks and more races by delaying their debut until next year i'm all for it. I,like Waco, just hope that STRANA is a success. And wouldn't be neat if a couple of the ALMS regulars did some moonlighting in the big-rigs? Jan Magnussen did that demonstration run last year didn't he? His bullish style would certainly make for a good show in something like STRANA, but then again i'm not sure he'd want to get stuck there instead of an LMP.

truck haul sprotscars to events then they park them and race the cabs around- good connection?
I always thought supertrucks are akin to Sportscars (the World sports car/GTS/LMGTP/GT1 way)
they are relatives of what we see everyday and run enduros. I would love to see this as a class at lemans personnally, as it would introduce wacky moving chicanes and up the excitement through lots of corners (heh heh)
they are fun to watch though aren'y they ayse?
and Cybers-that is a great piccy- is it this years spec FIA supertruck?

Nope (is there such a thing?) - this is the Buggyra, a purpose-built race truck.

Good luck finding course workers to work those races. I'm not gunna be anywhere near the track if something as stupid as those things run. Think how far a truck like that will move a barrier if it hits it at even 80 MPH. Tracks don't want them around either, the damage will be stupidly expensive each time one of those has an off. Strana is just a silly idea.
