OK Guys,
It is time to really back talent and back Mark for the McLaren Autosport Awards. Please consider Mark Johnston while voting. Mark will be racing at Brands Hatch and will be glad to talk to anyone. regards James |

I got that.
He is young enough, I think, but has he competed in a "British or European single-seater championship up to and including the British F3 Scolarship class" |

Besides it isn't a vote based competition.
You can nominate, but the number of nominations for each driver is immaterial. The competition then choses the final six. Buy a copy of Autosport, fill in the form and send it off! Last edited by Adam43; 12 Sep 2003 at 18:00. |

What is it with you, jamescrofts? Are you some sort of bookie? Your last posts have been either "vote for Mark Johnston" or "vote for Spencer Marsh"..
Stop trying to rig the voting process and let people decide for themselves, eh? |

Does TGP count as one of the single seater championships that is less than F3? Is Mark Johnston actually eligible? Just asking! He seems to have some talent, from what we've seen. |

They let Carroll and Barber in last year's final 6 and they had both done at least one F3 champ class race (although not during that year) and in Barber's case he did a whole year with ADR.
Maybe they are restricting it this year to eliminate karters and saloon/sportscar drivers. Shame. |

"The panel's decision on eligibility is final" ...meaning they'll select who they want, not who we want. I reckon we should all vote for Mark just to annoy them!!!!!! ;-) Last edited by Muppet; 12 Sep 2003 at 20:27. |

It's not a vote. You're supposed to be an experienced single-seater driver who driven in a recognosed pro or semi-pro championship 'below' Class A F3.
Tuscans isn't that, neither is TGP. Neither is Sports 2000. |

Siman Pullan was entered because he was champion of his category and IIRC seriously looking at getting into single seaters, which is what the award is meant for. I don't think he won it in the end and he moved on to sportscars (well GT's).
Don't know what he's been racing this year though I think he started uni last year. Used to post a fair bit on here, gone a bit quiet though! |

This is nothing against Mark. He seems to have some talent, but then so do many others. Also I can't see it annoying them I'm a afraid. It'll just fill a bin. It will annoy the person who sorts them, not anyone who runs the award! Quote:
On Mark himself. He has already won an award and is more of a name than most of the others. He's had a lift into the sport, hopefully he can keep that going and make something of himself. Last edited by Adam43; 12 Sep 2003 at 22:34. |

So have we decided, has he raced in an eligible series?
Generally, I'd be quite curious to see a list of eleigible series anyway. All the usual suspects I suppose. I wonder if there are any surprises. Is there such a list, or because the junior series change so much year to year so they keep it vague. Last edited by Adam43; 13 Sep 2003 at 10:33. |
