And, obviously from the above - the lack of a fire attendant during the race is only 75% as 'naught' during 2 or 3 stops in a 161 lap race than during a 20 minute warm up session.
Something says to me that the rules and the stewards have their head well and truly on back to front.... |

Sounds like a consistent application of the penalties (NOT!)
Is it just worded weirdly or does it suggest that the Sirromet boys had noone there for the whole warmup session, and got fined $10k, while SHRT had noone there DURING the refuelling stops and got fined $7k?? |

Like I said though - warm up is a 20 minute session with no refuelling (!!!) but the race is 161 laps long with fuel around for virtually the entire race.

From my take it seems Sirromet didn't have a Fire Attendant at all during the warm up whereas the HRT & SER Fire Attendants got there late or buggered off early.

OK - I'll say it again - during warm up, there shouldn't be any refuelling. The lack of a fuel attendent shouldn't be that much of a concern.
During the race, fuel IS expected to be around - therefore the lack of any fuel attendents is critical. Having said that - if the rules say 'a fuel attendent should be there' why the hell a $2,500 difference in fines between a non-refulling 20 minute session compared to a 2-3 refule stop 161 lap race? IMHO there should be absolutely no difference at all. |

Well if they slug the team over a period of time it will off set the cost of the legal team to defend them selves against said team.

If I can smell petrol and see a lit cigarette in the vicinity, we have a problem waiting to manifest itself into something ugly....

Refuelling is part of the Sunday morning warm up - there have been a number of these penalties applied recently and the sliding scale seems fit the "crimes" so far.

Refuelling is part of all sessions, whether they use the fuel tower and dry break, or the 205L drums and hand pump, the car still needs to acquire a quantity of motion lotion from somewhere fairly regularly.
As was written here recently, a fire does not just show up on race day to look spectacular for the teev.... |

It looks loke the CAMS Stewards hand out higher fines to the level 2 teams than they do to the level 1 teams Ellery was fined $7500 for the same breach that Larkham was fined $5000 Sirromet was Fined $10,000 for a similar breach to the one that HRT copped $7000.Inconsitent penalties cause a lack of confidence in the integrity of the Stewards whot are supposed to be fair and equal

Since when have the V8 stewards been consistent, equal or fair?

I always thought in the application of penalties there should be no shdes of grey... guilty or not guilty... go to the section in the regs and dole out the fine
I might be wrong bu I somehow recall that the 2nd offence is cheaper than the first... the logic of that escapes me! |

The first fine involves setting up a credit card account for them. Subsequent fines don't require this 'setup fee'

A $7,000 fine for not having the rain light on suggests it was looked at as a breach of safety, whereas the tactic was actually employed for a win/place/finish, therefore a time penalty should have been imposed. I expect the regs don't take that into consideration though.

Does anyone know why the Team Dynamik car of Minassian and Wakefield car got the penalty? I'm suprised that they were so far down at the end of the race (28th?) Does anyone know why?

Don't know why but a 7 minute pit stop on lap 74 obviously didn;t help...
