The end for Hyundai
According to worldrallynews.com MSD who run the Hyundai WRC team is in a contractual dispute with Hyundai Motor Corporation.
" Until such time as this dispute is settled, we have decided to send the staff home,” MSD Managing Director and team boss David Whitehead stated. More at http://www.worldrallynews.com/cgi-bi...63724542,7922, Hyundai has been reluctant to fund the team adequately this year, so they may decide now to pull the plug. (even less works cars for the 2004 WRC ????) Last edited by SJ Spode; 16 Sep 2003 at 15:40. |

I am not surprised, their performance is weak due to a small budget this year. If I am right Huyndai spends their sponsor budget on the European Championship football in 2004.
Difficult times for WRC. |

From www.worldrallynews.com
Hyundai have announced that they will quit the WRC for two years at the end of this season but aim to be back in 2006 with a completely new engine and car. They also look likely to end their partnership with MSD & will set up new team facilities in Germany. |

Hyundai blames MSD, but I think they must also look at themselves. I think they had a very small budget.

Hyundai never really ave MSD a load of money to play with, I understand the WRC customer programs were helping fund development on the lead cars....
They have been in dispute for the better part of 2 years, with major sponsorship promised from Castrol/Shell/Camel etc etc never materialising. A shame that Wayne Bell's work from so many years ago is now wasted |

Sad news from Hyundai and MSD. Apparently MSD made all their staff redundant as of Oct 1st.

Hyundai RC, a remote car?
I think Hyundai has not or wants not to pay the money for a decent WRC project. |
