New Honda Civic
It 1 doesn't look very good, or 2 like a Honda.
Who in the design department decided that the car needed a face lift? It looked alright and sales were reasonably good too. Honda must have thought, "we can't continue to have a car that's popular, that's wrong". So what they decided to do was take the car to Peugeot and let them kick the front, and then to Nissan where some old biffer had a go with it. I have to ask why bother? |

Actually there's a topic in this - "Facelifted cars that have gone wrong". Seriously, think about it. Car manufacturers do it all the time to "freshen-up" their products before a new model arrives and ALMOST INVARIABLY they end up looking worse than they did previously. A classic example would be the Hyundai Coupé, as would the Ford Escort and now the Civic. Only rarely does the transition work (the Clio perhaps??).
SO WHY BOTHER TAKING THE RISK??!! I'll see how the response goes here and then I might make it a new thread where people can post before/after pics of particular clangers. Possibly. |

Ah now see I think that was a pretty GOOD facelift. Ignore the new one, the OLD one was facelifted and it kept selling. Virtually every driving school in the nation had a fleet of them despite being a prehistoric design.
But yes, the new one. I *thought* I quite liked it (it's different!!) but I was wrong. Baaaaaaaad. |

The 4 door saloon is still the best looking new Civic.

Ok, the worst of all time has to be when they stuck a new front and rear on the ford Granada and called it the Scorpio. (Good taste prevents me from posting a picture).

Our Civic Hatchback (Called the Si here) stays the same this year, but our Sedan/Hybrid and Coupe get facelifts.
It looks like a Mazda Protege. http://www.hondacars.com/models/exte...me=Civic+Coupe http://www.hondacars.com/models/exte...e=Civic+Hybrid http://www.hondacars.com/models/exte...me=Civic+Sedan |

It's been a long time, but I recently noticed that Honda UK and Honda NA share the same Civic 4dr sedan bodystle! Typically, the bodystyles are different as is the case with the Toyota Corolla. Though I do recall the (BTCC) '91 Toyota Carina was the same as our Toyota Corolla.
