The other Battle......
.......5th in the WCC
Theoretically, 5 teams could do it, only 6 points separate them (although, i'd run down my street naked if Jordan managed it ) So who is going to do it, especially after todays qualifying session and the respective teams qualifying positions. Sauber 19 points drivers 11th and 12th on the grid. BAR 18 points (-1) drivers 9th and 13th on the grid. Jaguar 18 points (-1) drivers 6th and 10th on the grid. Toyota 14 points (-5) drivers 3rd and 4th on the grid. Jordan 13 points (-6) drivers 15th and 16th on the grid. So, very close, as i say, 1 of 5 teams could do it, but realistically, its out of Sauber, BAR, Jaguar and Toyota (although thats maybe an outside chance) so, who's it going to be? Toyota! This should be a great race for them if they don't lose too many positions!

If Wilson can make it to the end Jag will win it.

Not Jordan.
BAR probably won't last. Sauber are in the best point situation, but Jaguar the best grid position. Jag, just with a point. |

I think BAR has the best car of the bunch. Honda made a few grenades in the last couple of weeks though so that could be a weak link. Everyone knows the Toyotas are running light. Remember what ex-racer JV used to say. He would rather run a better race strategy than qualify light just to look good. Toyota are looking for publicity, thats all. I expect them to be the first in and then to hold up traffic for the rest of the race. Also, I bet JB will be the last to pit. Mayber BAR needs to try this strategy next year, run light, then see if they can scavenge points by holding up the grid. Nah, Honda wants to race not just take up space...

Here is Alonso's opinion on this...
note this quote... What are Fernando's hopes? "Our main problem will be the Toyotas, who are starting third and fourth tomorrow," explains Pat. "They are quick in qualifying, but less so in the race. I think they will be stopping quite early, but for Fernando, it will be crucial to get past them at the start and hope they slow down the pack behind them." |

Also Jenson Button overtakes Mark Webber for 9th place in the drivers championship and best of the rest outside the top 4 teams (on the tie-break) at the very end.

I think we saw a glimpse of what we knew Jenson was capable of this year. If he could get into a top team, I think he'd be a challenger to the future stars like Alonso, Raikkonen et al.
And my 5th place prediction was proved right. Yipee! |
