Best driver still to win Bathurst?
Brad Jones and Glenn Seton figured prominently in the race but there are several others in the sport yet to achieve a win at Bathurst.
Thoughts? |

All of the above are worthy winners and some have been around long enough and in good enough cars to think that they should have won.Seto, and Jones are probally the most deserving.
Cam has been around long enough but rarely in the right car, jeez when he got the DJR ride all those years ago you would have thought he was the prelude to Lownes but one error and off to siberia for him.The others whilst great steerers have got what 10 attemps at best and 2 at worst each, hardly a long time commitment.Their time may come but more likely in 15 years time one of them will still be on the list. |

I voted for Brad Jones.
He generally always manages to rise to the occasion at Bathurst with tough gritty drives. He has had a few factory drives in the enduro's, but never gained a full time drive. The most notable Bathurst drive was dragging the HRT Commodore he shared with Lowndes into a race winning position were they eventually finished second, but poor Bradly got no real credit for it, with the limelight being taken by Lowndes. Funny seeing how Lowndes put the car into the wall in the morning practice and nearly put them out of the race. |

I voted Brad Jones, especially after his efforts on the weekend. You can tell that he wants a Bathurst crown soooo badly and IMHO, he deserves one as well considering everything.
Speaking of Jones'....what about AJ? Alan Jones? He's another who's been unlucky and is now very unlikely to win at the Mount given his age and fitness levels (no disrespect.) |

Brad Jones and Seto get my vote, they have both mounted admirable campaigns in the past and deserve a victory.
I also agree with Big Mac, I would have loved to see AJ take the trophy and mount it on the wall next to his F1 spoils. It must have bugged him to think he could win a WDC but not the mountain. He drove an outstanding first stint, i think in '98 , before his car cooked at the cutting. |

yep, a damm shame. I have never net the man, and picked his name due to his F1 success when I joined this international forum, way back in the dark ages before the Aussie section .
Selling off all of his spoils sounds horrible to a fan of the sport, but he obviously needed the money more than the memories. |

Even though I'm a Holden fan, I actually hope that Seto manages to win it and soon, (if Lowndes was his co-driver then all the better )
Son has to be one of the unluckiest guys out there to have entered 20 times and still not have won it. I had every finger and toe crossed on Sunday that something would happen that would allow car#6 to win. (no offence to Murph and Kelly, you deserved the win) |

Try idol Matt, I mean who here doesn't want to be Speedy.
Rich enough to decide to waltz on in and buy his own team and then still be able to afford to run it without the aide of someone elses sponsorship dollars. And then there's the matter of shipping his whole family here to keep him company while he's at it. What I wouldn't kill to be Speedy |

Oh this group, Glenn Seton. Not so much because I think he's a great driver, but because he's been there so often, and as Skaife said in the Bathurst intro, "If you go to Bathurst often enough in a good car, you'll win it" (Yeah I know Gricey told him that, but sounded better from Mark :P)
