Uplifting news...Cialis to be approved!

From Champweb.net........

Cialis To Be Approved By FDA posted on 11-14 22:02

According to this Seattle Times.com article, Cialis the 36-hour impotence drug which sponsored Sebastien Bourdais in Mexico City and is also rumored to be taking a full-time sponsorship effort in 2004, will soon be approved by the FDA.

Cialis is expected to receive Food and Drug Administration approval within weeks for sale in the United States, the most lucrative market for impotence drugs. If it sells here the way it has in Europe, it could be the second billion-dollar-a-year drug created by a Puget Sound-area biotechnology lab, after Immunex's Enbrel for treating rheumatoid arthritis.

ugh...I guess the drug companies are tobacco's replacement...

Warning, what follows is a rant and does not necessarily represent the opinions of Ten-Tenths.
(To be honest, it probably doesn't even represent the opinions of the poster when they aren't ranting.)

Believe it or not, I much prefer tobacco advertising, as everyone knows what their practices are.... By now everyone knows that if you smoke a ton of Player's it won't be good for you. Many people still have the misconception that drug companies actually have helping people in their interests. In most cases it's just marketing over-priced, questionably helpful, yet very heavily marketed drugs. As an example, in the first 9 months this year, Pfiezer spent 10.6 billion dollars(by far their largest expense) on marketing and convincing doctors to sell their new and most expensive, yet often useless drugs to patients. In comparison, they spent 4.8 billion on R&D, and I can guarantee almost none of that went to actually curing anything...they make money off of people's suffering, not when people end their suffering. I know though, I should be glad that because of their intense research, old men can have erections again.

We now return you to our normal ramblings.

Yeah...I'm already missing Player's, Kool and Marlboro...we all knew what they were up to. I'll hold off on praising any drug company until they actually throw money at a Champcar for 2004.

Re: Uplifting news...Cialis to be approved!

Clever title, Dov!

Healthcare is where the money is these days - I certainly wouldn't mind if Pfizer started splashing some of that $10.6B around in CART (instead of - or as well as - Nascar!).

You gotta be careful with these title names because some folks with credentials might be offended by it. Oh wait, never, Dov is from north of the border.

Old dudes (and young smokers) need lovin' too . Cause and effect my friends. There's something like a ~80% corelation between smoking and sexual disfuntion. I don't know why the anti-smoking people don't push this angle more. How many people will take up smoking if the first thing people think when they see someone smoking is "boy they must be limp/dry."

Do you know why Prozak is a household name? It wasn't the most effective product, but Eli Lilly marketed it more effectively than the competitors. Probably one of the catalysts to the perscription drug marketing we have today.

Jay, it would be wonderful if everyone were unbelievably wealthy or if the Government would sponsor race cars so filthy capitalists wouldn't be cluttering up the world with advertising. But til that day comes, it is well to remember that business is all about making money, no matter what it is we're selling.

P.S. I wonder whether Bourdais will be doing ads for this product? I think that NA$CAR driver who has Viagara money does commercials -- although I believe he's about 30 years older than Bourdais ...

That would be Mark Martin, and think he's even MORE than 30 years older than Bourdais. He looks like he's about 60, but I don't know, and frankly I don't care enough to spend 20 seconds searching on google for that info.

I understand that business is about making money, but that doesn't exactly make it right... If I'm selling poisoned milk to school children by telling them it'll make them smarter or 'cooler' - it's not exactly right, even if I'm making money...and that's not at all far off from what the drug companies do.

My big objection with the drug companies, is more that they do the same thing that the tobacco companies do, but under the mask of trying to help people. Tobacco packages (here at least) come with pictures of what will happen to you if you use their product, it's your fault - you knew the risk. Most useful drugs aren't marketed at all, becuase they're not pattenable and thus can't be profited from and won't be sold.

I know I should be glad that they're willing to put some of their money into CART, but it's awful to think that because millions of senior citizens in the United States are in the poor house, we can race a few of our cars...

Mark Martin's only 44, believe it or not. Viagra sponsored a backmarker outfit for a year before they signed on with Roush. I still contend that that partnership fell through when the car owners couldn't convince Dick Trickle (who really is 60) to make a comeback.

While this isn't a place for an argument about what politically correct sponsors we ought to permit to spend millions of their own dollars however they choose, I would only observe that my parents are American senior citizens, unlike Jay's parents, and that they owe their lives quite literally to the American drug companies who have developed the drugs that keep them (and millions of Canadians -- Canada does no R&D, having barely enough money to pay for extremely basic health care for some people) alive well beyond what actuarial tables would predict (spending hundreds of millions of dollars in the process) and that contrary to the current hysteria in the Canadian press, they are neither choosing between cat food and medication, nor are they bankrupt and living in cardboard boxes. Private health insurance called "Medigap" which is competitively available to everyone covers their requirements nicely at a reasonable cost. May He forbid you ever develop an urgent need for such medication the day after the drug you need is banned in Canada due to unfounded hysteria.

At the end of the day Cialis is only availible by prescription, and only if its need. Sure it can and will be abused, just like any product is; but its original intent is nothing even close to tobacco.

All this nonsense about Canadian Drugs is because of its overexposure by the media who controls what is news, remember last year with Michael Jackson, Gary Condit, The Shark epedemic all of those were really not news yet they filled the news shows for months. To all the candians who are on this forum can you honestly say that everytime, you go to the pharmacy there are mobs of Americans buying drugs, are that your borders are congested with Americans trying to buy drugs.

Cialis will ring money and rigth now that what matters.

I’ve heard that McDonalds was going to increase their sponsorship with Newman/Haas in 2004. I’ve also heard that with the approval of this drug, there would be major money spent on the team as well. They look like they could be swimming in sponsor dollars. Ironic that ASTJ can’t find one.
That’s the way it goes sometimes I guess.
