No idea but the opportunities are looking slimmer by the day which is a tragic shame. If he can't get himself in the second TD seat, or maybe even an MG if they run, I wouldn't be surprised if he showed up in SCV8 along with a few other BTCC refugees such as Tom Boardman - if the series gets off the ground.

that is such a waste of a really good talent. Paul could go a long way in the BTCC if he was given the chance. he proved he could do it last year.

Well, no works teams as such - although MG have yet to show their hand, and there is still the possibility of a second seat at Proton, assuming they haven't filled that yet. But there are still some privateer teams - example the Kartworld team did buy two MG's and only have one declared driver so far...

I spoke to Matt at the Autosport Show and he hoped to have a team mate he said that things were looking positive but couldn't say who it would be. They do have 2 cars available.

Gareth Howell would be my first choice for the second Dynamics car - he's familiar with the team and seems like a better driver than Paul. There are a few options lingering - Kartworld, Edenbridge, the other BMW team that has just announced (not Carly), but lots of other drivers hnting for those, with or without sponsorship.

What other BMW team? Edenbridge and Carly are the only two BMW teams, I thought. O'Neill won't be in a Kartworld car - Jason Hughes, the team boss, will drive that car.

Yeah what BMW team other than Carly and edenbridge?

Johnny Apex > as mentioned above Kartworld do have two cars, so unless you have inside info they could run two cars.

Driver TBAs where O'Neill could go

Edenbridge - Bmw 320i
Team PSP - Proton Impian
Team Dynamics - Honda Civic Type R
MG Sport & Racing - MGZS
Kartworld Racing - MGZS
<satellite> Team - MGZS (could be that Kartworld is this team)
Team Halfords - Peugeot 307
Barwell Motorsport - Honda Civic Type R
Honda Racing (arena) - Honda Civic Type R

i know there are likely drivers for most of these seats but there was rumours of a third Team Halfords car and edenbridge originally said they could run three cars, so i dont think alls lost for O'Neill yet.

Autosport says Pro-Motorsport might switch their two Civic Type-R's from the EETC to BTCC which would give two more drives?

If all of these teams appear and all have two cars then this is going to be a bumper year for the BTCC

Many teams say they will be competing however the reality is that if the budget is not in place then you cannot compete.I think it unlikely that the Carly team will be seen and as yet we also do not have the funding required to run in the BTCC.This means that no BMW will compete. The situation is the same with many of the other Independents as well.

I though that the Carly team was pretty secure, in fact, with the exception of GA who definately do have paid up drivers, I thought they were about the only 'privateers' who were!

Peter, whats happened to the 3yr Mezzanine sponsorship? is it not enough funding?

Shouldnt toca and / or the government provide some kind of finincial support to teams to keep one of the key british championships in its prime?
