McLaren '05: Montoya/Coulthard?
I saw this discussed on the PlanetF1 forum. Kimi hasn't re-signed with McLaren yet, has he? If McLaren doesn't improve, will he do so?
Perhaps it'll be Kimi to Williams, with DC remaining to provide continuity. |

Well, if McLaren perform as badly as they did in Oz throughout the year, Kimi won't WANT to stay!!!

I said this two months ago on this forum. I wouldn't actually be surprised to see Kimi take Mikey's place if he scores another seemingly effortless championship again this year and retires for 05.

Kimi won't be at Williams. They've already got drivers for '05.

Kimi hasn't re-signed yet, but McLaren have the option on him, although it's going to cost them alot, which is a minor sticking point.
It will be Juan Pablo and Kimi in the Mac in 05. |

Can't say I'll feel sorry for JPM if McLaren continue to flop.

Although, to be fair, he has provided continuity for the last 133 GP for McLaren - a record for any team.

This is perfectly possible. Both Ferrari and Williams could have reason for wanting Raikkonen. McLaren look like struglging this year, which might make Kimi keen to leave, and Ron willing to sell him on to put more money into the car. Coulthard's development skills might be seen as more important, especially if he helps them improve over the course of the season.
If McLaren have a quick 2005 car, it'd be a shame to be denied the Montoya V Raikkonen duel. If they don't, it'd be good to see at least one of these impressive talents in a winning car. |

It's a bit early for such speculations IMO.
What will Macs be next year is absolutely unknown, and largely not dependant on what's gonna happen this year. Thus it's impossible to predict anything about. |

Kimi has a whole year to think about staying or not at Mclaren, but he should keep an eye in the vacant seat at Williams.

I think everybody is jumping to early conclusions. We are only 1 race into the season. We dont know anywhere near enough about the McLaren's performance. Its too early to start judging this years car....give it time and a few more races.

There was something Ron Dennis said a few weeks ago that caught my attention. Totally forget what it was but the gist of the statement to me didn't rule Coulthard out of team in 05.
And have the team ever said "Coulthard won't be with us in 2005 at all" yet ? |

Kimi and JPM will be at Mclaren next year, alright they've got problems at the moment but come on it is only one race into the season.
Mclaren have got a lot of resources and I'm sure they'll get there, they head hunted the senior Ferrari aero guy(can't remember his name) but he couldn't start working at woking until this year, his input will surely make a difference. And anyway why all this Mclaren bashing, yes they've had a bad start but come on they are not the only team to get their arses kicked by the team in red, seem to recall reading how this was williams's year and they were going to be the pace setters in Melbourne Even Renault though FA drove a great race were no where near the two up front Hopefully come Malaysia the Michelins will get the advantage back, we will all just have to wait and see won't we Howard |

IMO there is loads of evidence to suggest Kimi is going in 05 and he is going to the big red team. since last year Ron Dennis said many things.
1, They haven't confirmed who is staying/leaving for 05. 2,he said he is sure david will have some role within McLaren. 3,Ron dennis suggested MS will be leaving at the end of the season with many reasons to support this e.g MS's contract stipulates he can retire before end of 06 if he gives one years notice.(how does rd know this?)MS apparently promised his wife he would retire if he hit the big six.so maby he's put in his notice. 4,Melbourne he said david needs to focus this season if he is to consider where his future is. was that a hint that david will be staying or some advice to attract a top teams interest? also david and his manager martin brundle have not mentioned future plans. david does not seemed worried. do you think it is possible that McLaren know that Kimi is leaving to go to Ferrari but are unable to say anything at the moment? |

Kimi more likely to move to Ferrari if leaves Mclaren to partner Rubens.
If Mclaren stays awful, i wouldn't be surprised to see Juan checking his contract details to see if he can get out of it! |

Kimi is likely to move to Williams,
if it will be a bad Mclaren year, and i believe he has already done a deal with Frank |

Kimi's been quoted before now as saying he'd be quite happy to have JPM as his team-mate. He'll definitely be at McLaren in 05 - I have no doubt. |
