Sounds like it was a hard crash (according to the radio commentary, which is the only live coverage I have), but thankfully he was able to walk away.

You think they would've looked at the local radar pic to see the rain was so close folks tell me they could smell it. What's the point of risking everyone's life for 30 laps or so???

Tough situation for Greg Ray at this point. They say he needs to finish 11th or 12th here, just to continue with the rest of the season, and right now he has alot of problems. Hate to see this happen to a tough little team, but with so little track time, it was bound to happen.
Jaque Lazier is replacing Robby Gordon who is on his way to the NASCAR race. First replacement driver since 1977! Terrible start to the race! The cars were all over the place, yet they dropped the green anyway. Paul Page and the rest of the TV crew were sleeping or something, because they didn't say a word for almost 3/4 of the first lap! Terrible race call! Not looking good for a re-start today... |

With no restart on Sunday, Jacques Lazier will not be replacing Robby Gordon.

I agree, Bob...
But Foyt was nearly kissing that concrete, lap after lap, and after doing the same during qualifying he was chastised. Anyway, the cars are back ontrack, so I stand corrected and I believe that there actually has been a driver change. Now how does that work in the record book? Say Lazier wins the race this evening, who gets the trophy? Other scenerios... - If DriverA had a big lead after 199 laps, had to pee and DriverB replaced him and won? - If DriverA ran 100 laps, DriverB the other 100, and won? - DriverA qualifies 30th, brings it up to 1st after 24 laps, and DriverB brings it home from there? Just curious. |

Boys, they reckon Wheldon has put his car back out on the grid! (on Eurosport.com web text commentary).
If anyone would be keen to restart, of course it would be the leader, but does it look like everything could get rolling again? |

Bob, all I'm saying is that IMO I believe the kid is in over his head and needs to improve his driving and learning AND listening skills before someone gets hurt because of him...
