Irish RallyX

Hey all,

Not long now to the continuing rounds of the 2004 Irish Rallycross Championship take place in Mondello Park (31st October) Which will be run by Carlow.M.C (/carlow car club *always get them mixxed up*).

The championship sees the return of some old irish rallycross faces, Brendan Coynes Ford Fiesta has been doing test days in Mondello, brendan and his brothers Michael and William are confident that the car is ready this time for the event, more on that when rallycrossireland.com is back up

Possibly Second Returning from the break is ex rallycross mini driver Eugene Cahill, the car is suppose to be finished if all has gone to plan which is that the car will enter the event, hopefully nothing hampers eugenes efforts (perhaps John Rook would like to comment? As he would be better able to say?), more on this also when our website is back up.

As far as new cars go the above listed cars are the only forseeable cars making their debut this year, However we will comment that there is another Subaru Supercar to appear out sometime in the near future, we are not allowed comment on who it is at this moment in time.

Michael Coyne Started an somewhat problem-atic year this year with Electrical problems (caused by the Luambs, which is apparently common on escort cosworths, they have to be replaced every 3 years?), and in the thrid round an 50 Cent item caused the transmission problems, an worn pin in the gearbox caused gears not to select or not select properly. However its not all doom and gloom, we spoke to michael an short time ago.

An remapped GRP A ECU sees the escort running on all cylinders and michael commented that the car has never run as good, we look forward to seeing him out in october back in full on sideways action . teamrallycrossIreland will be releasing an website for the Coyne Brothers which you all will be able to get more info on Brendan, Michael and William respectivly!

And Lastly, we have decided not to continue with building our Division 2 Spec 106 Maxi/GTi 2000, an number of reasons have hampered us from compleeting the project. Firstly, we will tell you that an 106 GTi Shell and an 106 Maxi shell are only simular from the A pillar back, im afraid thats as far as the simularitys are. The Front strut Housings are compleetly modfied, we could engineer the strut tops differently but according to our works will be inclined to break at the joinings. We are looking into buying Front Vallance and Strut Sections for the car but we have to modifiy the chassie legs in oder to give the car its wide track stance, but it dosnt look promising so we have decided for now to abandon the project. (we will be keeping all of the stuff we have currenlty put into the car).

We do however wish to tell you about an new project, we are keeping the details of the project under wraps but check http://www.mobonline.net/derpolo/ on an montly basis to find out more info (media personel if you would like the information emailed to you send an email Entitled 'Der Polo Presse' to media@rallycrossireland.com

Thats all for the irish round up of things, if anything comes along or if you know something about the championship i dont know (im not god i dont know everything ) just post an reply as you well know!

Happy Rallycrossing!
