Commodore VZ

The Commodore VZ is to go on sale in September. Seeing that it is a facelift of the current VY, presumably the existing cars will be able to be updated fairly easily for the 05 season. A completely new model, the VE, is due for release in 2006.

Does anybody know when the next Falcon is due to be released?

Jeez that sounds nice, lets get the hybrid thing even more confused:

- A VT that can be converted to a VX with VX engine
- A VT that can be converted to a VY with Aurora engine
- A VX with VX engine
- A VX that can be converted to a VY with VX engine
- A VX that can be converted to a VY with Aurora engine
- A VY with Aurora engine

... pluz a VZ built from a VT, a VX, a VY with a choice of a VX engine or an Aurora....

Holden teams, spoiled for choice.... again

I can see the VZ facelift being run, how different it will be...........remember the huge differences between the VT and VX race cars.......

If the VE is released in late 2006, i can't see it being introduced until the 2008 season. Remember when the VT was launched in mid-97, it didn't hit the race track till late-98, and not full-on until 1999.

Still doesn't beat the best delayed debut of a racing car. The VL Walkinshaw Commodore race car was debuted in mid-late 1988, after the superseeding VN had been launched.......

Back in the Group A days there was lengthy homologation package. To qualify 25,000 'base models' had to be built. From there 500 'homogation specials' had to be built with all the wild aero kits, beefened up drivelines and tricky engine bits.

Hence there would be a lenghty period from a model being released at the delaership to when it 1st hit the racetrack. The VL was launched in February 86, but didn't appear on the racetrack until March 87, ironically in the opening round of the WTCC at Monza. The Sierra debuted at the beginning of 87, but it was not until September that the full blooded RS500 was homologated. The Nissan GTR was unveiled in 89 but did not hit the track until 90...and so the story goes on.

Today both Ford & Holden start preparing the new models with pre-production shells, hence by the time the model is released the development of the new racing models is quite advanced.

anthony81901,
IIRC, I think the production V8 engined VLs were available a substantial time after the release of the 6 and this may have contibuted to the delay in the intro of the VL as a Group A.

It was the dissapointment of inheriting the VD that got most peoples attention.

I think the Holden teams will want to rush it in as it has a higher centre section to fit the new V6 in. This will give them more room under the bonnet.

What do you mean by 12 months, its now 18 months since the first VY's with Aurora engines hit the track including 2 from a brand new team and we still do not have 'THE FACTORY TEAMS' all running with the Aurora motor, i suppose one third is not bad from the factory, it must be harder for them to get parts then anyone else.
I can see the headlines now, KMRT debut the VE Commodore in the first race of the 2012 season

I'm not sure.
The pics were taken from the LS1 forum.
I can see Paul Morris' V8supercar in the background in the SS pic so i would guess it's at the Holden test centre.

I got told back in May that they would be releasing the VZ to the public at the Holden performance driving center in July....

So that would explain Morris's beasty in the background...
