China very doubtful

I'm not going into details as i don't know it all but China is very unlikely to happen in 2005 and possibly at all.

why ???

The track is there and it looks great and everything should be in place , i guess its a financial thing between circuit promoters and Avesco then is it ?

oh well maybe Winton will get their round back

Something to do with promotors or ex promotors i hear. It would be nice for Winton to get their round back.

Should we really be surprised. hrug:

The business case for going to China never really stacked up, if you asked me. With the first promoter or the next one ....

Oh well, its back to trying to grow the core market. Put the flying pigs on hold for the time being!

knowing TC, he'd probably just send the V8s over regardless of whether the promoter is there. Imagine how much face he'd lose.

I heard rumours about the non-event at Shanghai a while back, but the replacement was Sepang (think major sponsor and manufacturer of a V8Supercar support category)...

So if not China, it would be likely that Dubai or Bahrain pick up the round? Circuits exist, fever is hot, and the wicked wind whistles in motion....

Seems the NZ round sounds patchy with the head of IMG NZ being unreachable today to everyone.

China may not work at Shanghai, but there's more than a couple of buses of people living there and more than one appropriate venue.

It is believed to be sortable, but requires the refund of the deposit cheque to the original consortium... not sure where the AVESCOdancers can spring $12m from in a hurry, but maybe they can use James Spader's character from The Practice to do their tidyup... not ethical, but oh so effective

I'll believe the race is going ahead when they are on the starting grid & even then i'll be sceptical until the light goes green.

1200Datto27 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
And from my sources in Chine, men with handcuffs waiting for TC when he walks out of the arrivals lounge when he gets there if it is not paid.

Shame about that, I was looking forward to seeing the V8's on that circuit. I even watched half of a pretty boring F1 race to have a squiz at what the track's like.

I can barely tell one east coast ciruit from another when all the funny names like Gellerasen are used, but I thought PI was dropped for Shanghai?

The DTM race in China was not big succes because of the high costs. Why wants a manufacturer like Holden race in China?

English is the most common foreign language spoken in China, so I don't see it as a problem.

So, why is Garry Rogers Commodore still in China?

Why did it take DTM(?) 6 months to get all their cars out of China after racing there?

What would happen to the Aussie series if our cars were impounded for 6 months?
