Old Ropey should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Formula Jedi

All seems to have gone quiet on this front.
Has no-one got anything worthwhile to say about probably the most successful single seater championship and its 18 race 2005 season?

Go on then Mike,
What sort of grids are you expecting?
Any new 'chargers' expected?
Any of the 2004 crew run out of dosh?
Are you still commuting to England?

Oh and "Carlsberg don't do Club Single Seater Championships, but if they did they'd probably do FF1600"

Oh here we go again......

Most of the usual suspects are back this year plus some new graduates from karts and elsewhere.

Over 35 registered now I believe.

Should be closer at the front this year and lap times looks like they will come down again.

Look out for David Hodgeson and Felix Fisher (brother of Josh Fisher from FBMW and I think now FRenault) as I think they may set the early pace in the 1000's.

Not sure about the 600's this year but Kat Impey improved alot last year and should be up there from the start along with Scott Temple and Joss Thompson.

We start on the GP circuit at Brands on 3rd April, so should be a good start as we could be close to 35 on the grid.

Mike, have you decided on what you are doing this year?

Don't take it Sam, but while I'm chastising you about that, I feel honour bound to mention that Oulton NW FF has more entries than that on Monday and there are regional FF races at Combe and Mallory also. So end of discussion, there are more 1600s racing than Vee [good as they undoubtedly are].
Now let's leave this thread for discussing those indecently fast F Jedi.

Who was the Jedi out at snett on saturday, while considerably quicker than me it didn't seem as quick as I was led to believe.

Not sure. Its all relative I suppose and depends one which class the car was. The 1000's are obviously quicker than the 600's but visually very similar.
What colour was it?

Didnt know Snett did testing at weekends, thats always good know as taking time off during the week is always a costly issue for many.

Um that'd be me (scott temple) in my 600. Only did about 10 laps in the whole day due to probs. But yeah, the 600's aint to sharp down the straights but we go round corners well. At a track like Snet Formula Fords have the edge on us but the more twisty tracks like Mallory we tend to be two seconds a lap quicker. On top of that the 1000cc class are about 5 seconds a lap quicker than us. There proper race cars though. They handle so well, are great fun to drive and by what we'v seen, the cheapest form of single seater racing

Yeah not enough 600's out this year unfortunatly but me and Joss will fight out the champ amoungst ourselves and hopefully some quick new comers. As for any people that did the series last year and stayed on for this year, cant see any talent there.Maybe a few one track specialsts that will get up there when we go to there track, as was the case last year. But its gona be a great year in the 1000's for sure

Whats a decent time around brands indy or silverstone for both 1000 and 600 and roughly what would it cost over a season?

Tom, take a look at www.formulajedi.com, especially the forum as most info you are after is there.

Rough costs having purchased a car are:

Entry Fees: £3k
Tyres: £2-3k
Last years 1000 champ did the whole season including food, petrol, diesel etc for just under £8k.

Cars start at around 8k for a good secondhand 600 and up to 30k for a new 1000 with spare engines, lots of wheels etc etc.

Hope it helps.

Formula Jedi, Round One - Brands Hatch

I see from http://www.msttiming.com/result.asp?...d=brandsgp.gif that grids appear to be slightly smaller than last year, if anything. Good to see Felix Fisher well up the order on the day brother Josh won in F3 National class at Donington Park.

One thing puzzles me - why was Rob Horsfield so far off the pace?

22 cars is a decent grid, certainly compared to some series these days (Zetec FFord, anyone?)

Yes, it is okay - just not as many as for many rounds last year. And you'd expect a large field on Brands GP...

Can't make out why David Hodgson and Jody Hemmings were not racing. The 1000 field looked very thin without them

Can't understand why David Hodgson and Jody Hemming were not racing. the 1000 class looked quite depleted without them particularly with Hamilton Smith obviously having problems in practice and the race

We had quite a good grid at the weekend. To answer your questions Dave Hodgeson's engine went down on the test day so he went home. Jodie's car is still not repaired from her shunt at Mallory on boxing day but she should be out again soon. Frazer won but was pushed by Felix all the way who had a miss-fire all the way through the race. Our team (temson racing) dominated the 600 class with Joss taking a win with me second. There is alot of people entered for the champ but alot of people just didnt have their cars ready for this round.

Yes the grid was slightly down due to some cars not finished yet. We should average 25+ grids by Combe.

Rob Horsfield was off the pace due to a misfire, so he was not a happy chappie.

Jodi was not running as her car is not finished yet.
David H was not running due to engine probs.

Frazer and Felix were running very well and soooooo close.
Good race, but 15mins qualy is not enough time to learn the circuit really.

After a failed front upright on Fridays testing and my wheel catching up with the chap in front, I only managed to get my car fixed 1/2 hour before qualy on Sunday so took it steady and got a poor 9th.
Did well on the first lap, but unfortunately engine seized going into the corner before clearways and spun me off (right pain as engine is fresh from being rebuilt).

Im out for a few rounds now due to lack of cash after another expensive weekend but I reckon it will be close between Felix, David and Frazer for the rest of the year.
