I wouldn't say it's too disappointing, quite a bit happened at Clipsal so don't see why a little action wouldn't happen down at Wakefield, especially with the reverse grid back this round. The majority of the categories typify what real racing is, and it'll be a refreshing change to be at a track without the hype that's generated around the main game Supercars. Bring it on I say! (Let's just pray it doesn't rain cuz there ain't much shelter for us down there!)

Herd that the gate price for Sunday was $35 for an adult, I think that is a pretty reasonable price for the action for a track like Wakefeild.

$35 for a development round. That is huge
The performance cars should be alright, if anything the development guys should be supporting them, as they will the category to watch over the weekend. |

Qualifying Here
Mr Canto quickest from Mr Macrow... with the lone Holden contender at the title in Mr D'Alberto 3rd... Top 10 cars covered by a little over one second... pretty tight for a HPDC/Konica grid.. Interesting however is the lack of Mr Wakefield at the circuit bearing his name |

I'll pay $35 for a bag of whatever you on if you think that is the case. The development series ain't strong but neither is 19 perfromance cars. DRT I support your push for a diversification of Australian Motorsport interest but you do yourself no favours with statements such as this. More of every class would be great I think the legends have around 40 entrants this weekend. The baseline of motorsports in Australia is that we are now lacking affordable creditable classes. With the development series costing 150K to run and up to 400K+ to win, CC 300 for a car and 300ish to run, Utes 150 to start and another 120+ to run and some formula ford guys spending close to 180k for a season, aussies seem affordable but not yet a credible breeding ground. The APCC lacks depth of emerging driver talent to be seen as an alternative at this stage. Support the category, build the category, but keep it real my brother! |

Support catergories look the goods with Commodore Cup which boast good close racing, whicj is growing every year. V8 Utes, good racing with some biff and barge. saloon Cars and Aussie Racing Cars with the Australian Performance Car Championship. It should be a great day. I am heading Down there. Hope the rain does hold off for most of the day, cause i went down there last year and the rain provided some good racing in all catergories, especially one incident where Christian D'Agostin had a spin on the warm upo lap.
Anyway should be a good day of racing. |

How do the Utes manage to cost hundreds of thousands!? That's very shocking.
They are supposed to be near-standard right? they run on road tyres don't they? How do they cost that much!? Mostly astronomic entry fees? Do they replace every part between every round or something? |

He WebberWDC man.
The main start costs is the "franchise" or shareholding in the company that seems to cost 100k plus the car only 50k. I am informed that the cost to run is the same as GTR points out above. 100k plus damage that was the basis of my 120K. The think is that even thought the 100k is a franchise which may retain its value and be sold, it is still a barrier to entry. Some (read most) folks just dont have a lazy 100k lying around. |

True enough TSR, but like their Aussie Racing Car counterparts, it is difficult to get thru a whole weekend of practice/qualifying/racing without crashes, red flags or other stoppages ruining procedures.
It seems Mr Zukanovic and his father are the whiz's at getting seemingly dead Utes back to life... the crash Mr Luff endured at Adelaide should have seen that vehicle consigned to Simsmetal, but they fixed it, and its as good as it was before.... (although the wallet would be several thousand dollars lighter in terms of manpower and resource costs...) |

At least with the Fords, it's an awful lot easier to fix the back clip on them than the Holdens...

I wouldnt call the utes expensive to run, they are on the Avesco calander, TV is not bad, and it cost a driver an average of $15g to turn up with his helmet and suit and drive the thing.

It's expensive for a "street stock" car!
