Holden no more
The Holden brand is no more.
At the opening of their new $200 million facility in Melbourne, the company has announced a name change - GM Holden. It's about restoring links to US parent General Motors, apparently. Ford v GM Holden? Just doesn't have the same ring to it... |

What a stupid idea. With all the turmoil in the US and the cancellation of the Vcar platform outside Australia I don't think they really need to spend $$$ on stationery and signage - and for what benefit anyway?

It was GM-Holden up until 1993 or 4, when the new badge and identity came out.
It'll be Holden, witht he corporate brand of GM-Holden, as it was (I assume). We don't call Ford "Ford Australia", do we? |

IIRC, as Senna said, it was GMH previously, although I think it changed around 1987ish an was part of the re-structure when Holden were on the brink of going down the tubes and were bailed out by GM and told to stand on there own two legs after that?

Kieron, it could be 87 too!
The dealers that still have the old signs are laughing now, as they still have their blue and white "GM-H" square! |

I never thought they stopped being called General Motors - Holden.
There'll be no difference, everyone will keep saying either just Holden or GM-H. |

At least Holden has a motorsport department that retains a level of intellectual property in the racing vehicles that they sponsor....
