Panis will drive at Magny Cours
Toyota have announced that Panis will drive the third car in FRiday's practice at the French GP. see Crash.net or others.
This is on the back of the changes to the restirctions imposed on third drivers. McLaren did a similar thing allowing de la Rose to drive the thrid car at Spain, his home race. Although now they have said that Wurz and de la Rosa will alternate for the rest of the season (Autosport magazine 19 May '05). I like the swapping around and it is good that they get their home GP. It is a shame the Monaco GP winner wasn't out yesterday either. |

If the regulation change had been decided before Zonta has a Friday contract for this year, I suspect Olivier would've been offered the role for as many races as he wanted, rigtt from the word go. I also susspect he wouldn't've taken it, as this way he's avoiding the day-to-day drudgery but gettign to continue driving F1 cars. Doing the Firday at Magny-Cours is ideal for him and the team, he's surely got far better cirucit knowledge than Zonta.

That thread title could be a bit misleading!

With Panis pounding out some laps on Friday, Toyota should be in great shape for the race. Maybe Trulli can move up a step. Good for Olivier!

It'll be nice for him to drive at the track one last time and will undoubtedly boost tickets sales for the circuit. Bargain.
