John B should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
In their season preview issue (not the same as the Fan Guide) writer Al Pearce chose Ricky Rudd as the title winner. It's a mild surprise in that rarely does a driver who hasn't won in 2 years get picked for the Cup, though Rudd had strong runs especially late last year. Whether the 28 car can amass enough points to finish ahead of Labonte, Burton, Stewart et al over 36 races remains to be seen.

Who are your picks for the title? Labonte's strong second last weekend is a sign that his title defense will be serious, though its very unlikely he'll run all but 9 laps as he did in 2000.

Ricky is a great driver and probably should have been a Cup champion by now just like Mark Martin, but if he wins the 2001 Winston Cup title, I will buy everyone here a subscription to Autoweek.

Bwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaahahahhahahahhhahahhhhhaaaaaaaa!
Oh stop it! you're killin' me! nothin' against Rudd but this is NOT gonna happen. I do think Labonte has an excellent chance of repeating. He has the drive and now the experience and the same excellent team as last year and don't count out his team mate Tony Stewart. He has gained some experience and patience and don't forget he won more races than bobby last year. Then theres the burton boys and dei inc. but rudd? only if dave marcis comes in second.excuse me now I gotta go find a hankie and I think I threw my back out when I fell outta my chair!

I wouldn't mind seeing Rudd win the championship. We'll see.

I could live with a rudd championship lee, even tho I'm not a ford fan but It just seems a little far fetched to me at this point. a lot of top fives and top tens are required to win the WCC and ricky just hasn't shown that kind of consistency. a couple of wins wouldn't hurt either. of course I'm personally pulling for mikey(which is also a stretch maybe) or any of the dei cars and would still like to see dale jr get his first even tho I dont like that budwieser name on his car.I loved jr. in BGN in the ac delco car and it's hard not to pull for him now even tho I've never pulled for anyone who put beer sponsors all over their car.
