Mosler's in 2006 (FIAGT? LMES? Le Mans?)

I must confess to becoming a bit of a Mosler fan. My most recent encounter was at Brands last weekend, which has led me to wonder where we will see these beautiful machines racing next year.

BGT/Britcar aside, we have seen them run very competitively in G2 in the FIAGT this year. Could we see a full season campaign in FIAGT (joining Spyker in G2) from Balfe, Eclipse or Cadena in 2006?

And then there's the question of ACO homologation. Will this happen? And if so, could we see Mosler's running in LMES and subsequently at Le Mans?

I believe these are, as yet, unanswered questions?

Hopefully I'm not the only one interested in the answers........

I believe the aim is to sell 25 road cars (from Racing Green who are the dealer) at which point homologation becomes a possibility. So far I believe they have sold 2 or 3 so some way to go yet, though they hope to sell them by next year...based upon a conversation with the Eclipse team.

Apparently with the 7 litre V8 they are quicker than a Saleen, though I've got no evidence to back this up...

I'd certainly like to see the car in the GT2 class - a Porsche/Panoz/Mosler/Ferrari battle sounds like a very interesting one, and Balfe's was the only G2/GT2 car which could keep within a couple of laps of Gruppe M this year...

Would be great to have that battle being raged across FIA, LMES as well as Le Mans - and why not ALMS too?

As for car selling counts - I happen to think there are a few nicer looking cars out there, but hey, given the money, I'd have one! Do they have to actually SELL 25 cars? or just prove that they've MADE them?

Bob, I believe you're correct - made, not sold.

The road car at Brands looked really nice. If I had the money I would buy one £100k sounds about right againts other cars in class.

Eclipse are rumoured to be looking towards an FIA GT campaign next year. They've shortened their British GT season to concentrate on getting the car fully sorted and preparing for next year, I am led to believe.

The Cadena team seem to have finally got to grips with their car, at least if Brands was anything to go by. So they should be on the money in whatever they choose to compete in.

We were never sure whether the homologation issue was to do with road cars or total chassis builts. As in, a percentage of road car and race car chassis, which would speed up the process.

We counted about 11 cars currently around the world racing in one form or another. But we don't think they count, which is a pain!

As for the Balfe car, watch this space.

I have been following news about the Mosler for some time now and I have never seen one powered by a 7.0L V8. If I am not mistaken (and please correct me if I am wrong), the Mosler is powered by a 5.7L LS6. I would love to see it with a little more "get up" but as of yet I don't think that has happend.

I've been for a ride in one... only round an industrial estate where they are built, but it was superb!

This site is completely unofficial, but the moslerauto.com site's list should be updated to match this in a day or so:

Where are the MT900's?

I read somewhere (maybe DSC) that the Silverstone 24Hours car was a new one, the Mosler list says it's last year Rollcentre car, does someone please know what's right?

The yellow Mosler that lives in Breckland Technology's workshop in Norfolk is powered by the 7-litre engine. It is, as you'd expect, rather fast...

I think you might find that Cadena played with the ECU for Brands as there were no rule restrictions like British GT.....

As far as I know only Eclipse ran in BGT spec

My boys (and I!) thoroughly enjoyed watching you thunder round Brands on Sunday. Probably the highlight of their day (although the grid girls also had them mesmerised... )!!

Sounds like you'll be mixing it at a higher level in 2006. Great news, and good luck Steve!!

That's the one I went in. It's fast...

DSC did a feature on it back in December, that's why we were there.

This is it, before the 7.0L was put in:
http://motortrend.com/roadtests/coupe/112_0306_spdmos/

PDF of the entire article:
http://www.rollcentre.co.uk/rollcentre/9674_eprint.pdf

again, before the 7.0L:
http://www.robbreport.com/Articles/W...Wish-For-2.asp

They also ran the Nurburgring with the 5.7L engine, in 7:42, with Joao Barbosa behind the wheel. His first day driving the 'ring I might add. I'd like to see how it runs with the 7.0L. Heck, I'd like to get one at the shop here with a 7.0L!!

Thanks for the info, but is there any write ups about the 7L version. Jao can certainly peddle a car. He drove for FMOW in the Trofeo a few times. Their shop is like a mile from my house so it was good to see the home team with a quality driver.

I'm not aware of any, but I'll ask around. It's been harder to keep track of that car since it went to the UK.

One of the two Moslers currently racing in the Spanish GT Championship runs with the 7 litre engine.

Its the only racecar that runs it to date, that I know of.

The Britcar 24 hour car is the original Rollcentre car (the one that was originally Blue and White and was Black and Yellow last year and the start of 2005).

start of 2005 - isn't that because Eclipse used it for a while? I seem to remember at Donington they weren't using their own car... or something along those lines - needs confirming as well as correcting.

Correct, Eclipse's car suffered an 'off' at pre-season shakedown at Donington.

The team used the Rollcentre car for the Donington race. It was still in the Bumble Bee livery then.

I think you will find Cadena GTC ran in British GT specification. Please refrain from making wild allegations about my racing team.
