According to other websites the FIA has proposed really radical rules and that Stoddart didn't want to give comment to it, because he simply named it ridiculous.

Indeed.
Only proposals at this stage - maybe will happen, maybe won't. Although the fact Stoddart thinks its ridiculous should be of no concern |

Yeah, having to start the season with a car built to the same regs as everyone else's....how ridiculous is that.

Yep, and now being the 2nd Red Bull team, is easier for them to get the V8 engine like other teams!

Having now read the proposed 2006 changes in full, I'm fully supportive of the plans.

What are these "radical changes" mentioned on Autosport.com?

I don't like the knock-out qualifying. The first two parts will be done on low fuel. The knocked-out drivers may determ their fuel load for the race after qualifying. The last ten drivers will have 30 minutes drive, but on the fuel load for the race. This will make the drivers to do not more than one lap. So, the new qualifying format will be very complex. And we will keep the "worthless" pole positions. |

No it won't.
The drivers in the final 10 do have to do it on race fuel, yes, but they will get to refuel after the session to put the car back to the level of fuel it had before the session. Therefore they will want to do more than one lap. It won't be complex at all. |

Apparently they'll be one guy changing all the tyres........no pressure there then.

No, it's one tyre changer per wheel, not per car!

Why can't they return to *one hour* twelve or even unlimited laps.. What seems to be the problem? The only condition that I would make is that the teams must use some of their laps in each quarter of the hour. Simple qualifying rules easy to follow. And leave the amount of people in the pit lane and working on the cars alone, they are going to be there anyway so it saves no money to limit the amount of mechanics..

Well, make your mind up.
You were complaining that they'd only do 1 lap - now you're complaining they'll do too many. Anyway - each lap they do more won't necessarily be faster - because there's a balance between fuel going down and tyres wearing. |

A ban on the spare car doens't make sense eighter. If a driver crashes hard during Friday, it could be the end of his race weekend already. What if something like that happens with one of the two title candidates in the last race weekend?
