Astratech Data Logger Download Cable

G'day,

My team has recently acquired a couple of cars with Astratech data loggers. The unit is pictured below.

Unfortunately they didn't come with a download cable. We did receive the software, and I have visited the www.astratech.co.uk website and downloaded the latest software, but have been unable to find any info on the download cable.

Can anyone help me with the details of the download cable (pin-outs)? The plug is pictured - 3 pins only - I would assume (assuming serial comms) 1 is transmit, 1 is receive and the other may be an earth...

If anyone can shed any light it would be greatly appreciated! You can get me on direct email at mumbo_racing@hotmail.com

Cheers,

Sam Dale

Why not send an email to Astratech and ask them to send you one, or at least tell you the pinouts? I'm sure they'll be happy to oblige.

THR has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
yea ask the astratech man, he is very helpful nice guy.

note that modern laptops dont have proper serial ports sometimes tho, and u may need a card to plug into the laptop and then a usb to serial converter to make it all work!! complicated so dont ask at pc world!!!
lol

G'day Chris Y,

Thank you, I did actually email Astratech around the same time I posted this request (just hedging my bets, I guess). Hopefully I will hear back shortly.

And yes, my laptop is lacking a proper serial port - I've successfully used a USB-to-RS232 adaptor to communicate with MoTeC and Pi systems, so hopefully the Astratech will work along the same lines.

Cheers,

Sam

I've got a different system by astratech, called a kartkit. Serial port all the way for that. Not got the same plug logger side though.

Anyway have you got the astratech man's number, is it on the site? Give him a call and he'll sort you out straight away.

If you struggle with USB - serial connections, buy an older laptop off Ebay for a couple of hundred. Something like a HP Omnibook 6000 will be fine for Astratech software. I did once have the pin-outs for Astratech and Pi cables, I will try to dig them out.

G'day Andydickens,

If you were able to let me know the pinouts for the Astratech cable it would be greatly appreciated! I've been in touch with Astratech, and whilst they're looking into it, they haven't been able to come up with anything yet.

Cheers,

Hi Sam, Just out of interest, are you still leasing drives in Oz? I may be interested in taking a run in a tintop or single seater. I just transferred my MSA / FIA International C license to a CAMS National Circuit and Rally, but haven't raced anything in Oz before
