I heard the commentators mention 110000 spectators at raceday.

Don't know TSR but some 170.000 tickets were sold before japan and there didn't look to be any empty seats

Good effort.
And about 10,000 had any knowledge of F1 no doubt! |

And how many of those were given tickets because they were 'politically reliable"

It would certainly be interesting to see how many were given away by the state. There are not that many people in China that could afford F1. I suspect a lot were given away so that crowds were good.

Interesting some of you quite numbers. I have it on extremely good authority that when the Australian V8 Supercars raced Shanghai earlier this year they were prohibited from getting crowd numbers by the Chinese Government for whatever reason.
Apparently when the Supercars raced there the numbers were pretty much educated guesses so maybe the F1 numbers were as well. You wouldn't think that ticket sales to a car race meeting would be a State secret, would you? |
