Are you talking about the theoretical max speed or the highest race timed max speed? I think the Bathurst races had recorded the highest top speed for ST cars. It was approx. 165-175 mph. Or perhaps some tracks in the STW? I heard ST cars can theoretically hit somewhere between 180-200mph if given enough racing and stopping distance??

Kmchow, you are very right in what you are saying as it has been known for a ST to reach 182MPH on a derelict Air Field.

in testing at thruxton last year yvan muller reached a screaming 159mph before the club chicane aaahhhhhh, that is the fastest on a uk circuit that i know, oh and to add to that i have video footage of vincent rademaker continuing the vauxhall crazy driving as he took church corner flat out no drop in gear or engine note stunning to watch as the car bounced on its heels round the corner!

I'm just trying to remember from the 1997 and 98 Bathurst coverage what speeds the cars were reaching. If I recall correctly, the Accord topped the radar charts at 264km/h down Conrod. Perhaps someone else with the tapes at hand can assist?

One stat I will not forget is at Dick Johnson Racing's base in Brisbane: the Sierra RS500, in race trim, had been taken to 306km/h. Not bad, eh?

I've been told the STW tracks routinely allowed cars to run at 160mph+.
For sure, the new BTC cars can't match the STs. Didn't another thread mention they top out at 145mph?
