Yep,but I think it was one of the lesser divisions-not the Nextel Cup .As to turning corners they still have a round at Watkins Glen.

ASA ran with the Trans Am series last year I think on street circuits.

Nextel and Busch series run currently on road circuits (what Europeans would call a normal racing circuit), as mentioned above Watkins Glen for the Nextel and also the Mexican circuit for the Busch series.

In the early 1990's (1994 I think) the ARCA stock car series ran on the streets of Des Moines for the last Ruan Grand Prix after IMSA was done with it. Other that there hasn't been any stock car street races that I know of, with the exception of the old ASA cars being used in Trans Am last year (but technically it wasn't sanctioned by a stock car series). It wouldn't be out of the question for NASCAR to do something like this, but the schedule is full enough as it is.

Circuit I was thinking of was in downtown Los Angeles around the Union railroad station.Used around 1997-99 for Historic racing then a NASCAR regional series(not Nextel/Winston or Bush)

I haven't heard of it, but either the Southwest Tour cars or the Winston West cars may have run on the street in LA. Nothing showing up on the net about it either, but they do race at Sears Point on occasion so its definetly possible.

Naruto..NASCAR and GRAND AM are the same organization - they share offices in Daytona...

...but if you want to be a NASCAR 'purist' re road racing, you may appreicate the fact that the very FIRST event held on the Watkins Glen Road Course was a NASCAR Grand National Stock Car race in 1958.

Nah, to have a street race in the nascar division of racing would ruin the sport for everyone. People would stop associating it with its original form
