The pictures are widely distributed and discussed elsewhere. These were taken by Jon Williamson, and really should have been attributed to him.

Sorry, I don't buy that one. He isn't carrying anywhere enough speed to fly that distance, surely? If it is faked, its good....

the remarkable thing is he was uninjured and aston martin had the car out 3 hours later for qualifying.
the damage fixed was, replaced bodywork, replaced undertray, replaced rear diffuser and some small suspension parts were replaced. it just shows how strong and safe modern race cars have become. the accident was shown on tv good luck to anyone who finds the footage |

So it obviously is absolutely real then? Just shows how the eye can be deceived - somehow didn't look right to me.......

Aye, the first pic looks a photoshop job to me - but I guess it isn't.

Looks like the camera has focussed on the car and particularly the dust in the foreground while the blurry background has broken our depth perception.
Although I'm not a photographer. |

Think it shows they need to sort the circuit out, imagine if the car had rotated another 90degrees.

Well there you go, pretty astonishing stuff. Lucky for the driver (spectators) there was so much run-off area where it happened....... |

Ayse, it was stunning to watch. They showed a clip of it during the race broadcast. It actually flew quite a distance. Doubt it went as high as it seems. But it landed in the gravel and IIRC did not reach the barrier.
In fact, the announcers joked that the car actually flew a longer distance than the Wright Brother's flight. |

It did lightly impact the tires - just bodywork damage. That's what I was able to see, anyway. I had been elsewhere on the track, so I just saw them disassembling the car...

Its real I saw it. After the session was over a guy from SPEED measured the distance it flew. 142 ft i believe. They're luck it didn't roll, and infact the car wasn't that badly damaged
