George Tracey- RS200
I hear George Tracey has bought Pat Dorans RS200. He is planning to fully restore it and use it for Demos and exhibitions Won't be competing again but it will be nice to see the beast back at tracks again!

Well it's certainly good news that the car will be back in action, even if it is on a limited basis - these cars weren't made for sitting around doing nothing.
Do you know if it'll be kept in its final spec or will it be toned down back to rally spec and lose some of the power and aero mods? |

Yes - brilliant news!
I wonder if there'd be any chance of getting some of the surviving Group B cars out for an annual bash or demo at the Superprix meeting? Maybe get some rally versions too or get the Slowly Sideways group involved? I'm fast sounding like an old f*rt but I still reckon this was rallycross's best era... |

Well if it was up to me i would return to how the Grand Prix use to be and allow anything! Old Group B machinery racing with the current cars would make a spectacular sight, though i know this goes against everything the RSS are trying to do. But there must still be a number of RS200s, 6R4s, T16s etc in europe just sitting idle, wouldnt it be great to see them where they should be seen again. Maybe im becoming an old fart to!

Yep mates, I'm farting with you. Only those, who had not been around in RX during the late 1980s and early 1990s, dispute the facts: The Group B era was definitely the best RX had on offer – at least so far. Apropos: I'm in the sport for 32 years now and know also a lot about the missed years 1967 till 1973.

I was told about a year or so ago that George first asked about this car and his prep man Mr Burrows told me he was after it.
I think it was the guy that does McCluskeys site that I told as from what I remember he knew everything George was doing, or thought so |

Well there's already one RS200 attacking Pikes Peak so adding another one into the mix can only be good news. They'll have to watch out for the same sort of problems Mach2 had with their car though - the turbo vanes went supersonic and the shockwave destroyed them (I think the Mach2 car has 840bhp on tap with 700 lbft of torque). Not sure what the latest is with the Mach2 car, anybody know if they're going to run the hill this year?

There is another RS200 entering Pikes Peaks this year, I tought I've read it on RS200.org, I think it was the Ex IMSA RS200 that is being converted. Now we only have to see some 205's (Alamaki's!) and go to the States this year!
I think it would be great to see this cars in action! But it will never be... Maybe some non FIA event? When combined with newer cars both restricted (or my preference) unrestricted... But dreams don't come true... I hope George will not make it to STD or Rally specs and keeps the wings too, as it looks BZRK! |

Whilst on the subject of RS200's I was in a workshop in East Sussex about 8 years ago and Gary Baker's RS200 which was shunted at Brands in about 1992/93 was sitting in the corner untouched from the day it hit the Brands armco off the startline. Also tucked away in boxes there was a "unbuilt" RS200which I was told was complete ready to be built up anyone got any more info? Maybe worth starting a thread "where are the Rallycross RS200's now"

Not a R/X RS200, but a roadgoing one. I used to work in Ford's European HQ in Warley, Essex in the early 1990s and my desk overlooked the management car park [Ford were a bit old skool about these things]. Every so often Stuart Turner [I think ?] used to show up in his road-going RS200 and park it in there. It was just so odd seeing that car in road trim sitting betwixt the Granadas of Ford's top brass at the time. I wonder where that one went to.

Pikes Peak
Guys
Mach 2 Racings RS200E may enter Pikes Peak again next year if we can pull the money together; its a big cost for the one event but as we only completed half the mountain last time due to sudden snow, Stig would still like to try and get sub 10 mins. Mick Mach 2 Racing |

That's excellent news!
(And welcome to ten-tenths - make sure you keep us up to date on what's going on ) Are there any other plans for the car? If it does go sub 10 minutes is that the end of its Pikes Peak career? Or is it a case of see how it goes and then decide? |
